What is God to you? I would like creative answers IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Try to do this with more than 10 words and without quoting any religious scripture. Thanks! I think this is a good exercise is us all getting to know each other.

I know that Mormons practice abstinence and I find it to be virtue of Mormons. Other than smoking and drinking, I heard that Mormons are not allowed to drink coffee? Is it true? If it is, why is that? Is it because of caffeine?
*I'm not being sarcastic toward Mormon beliefs. I'm just curious. Recently I got interested in Mormonism and am trying to learn about it. I just got delivery of Book of Mormon. Unlike common expectations, they weren't oppressive at all and respected my opinion as I told them to give some time and I'll contact them if I want to learn more.

Look: Atheists usually look at the bible and say God is evil, so God must not exist. They look at all the religions and see faults in them, therefore God doesn't exist. But have you ever spent some time thinking: What if A God (which none of us know) created us and simply abandoned us? So a God MIGHT exist, we just don't know him and he doesn't interact with us. What do you think?

does anybody think that the bible could have just been written as a fiction book, or a novel, or even a fairy tale, and the book got confused as a nonfiction book for some reason...it sounds crazy, but to me at least, the bible seems like a novel. i just find it hard to believe that this could actually be a true story, written by smart, sane, well informed people...plus, to me, it reads like a fairy tale

You say that you do not believe in God because no one can prove that they exist. But if you have not been to China, how do you know that China exists and that it is not just some controversy that people have made up?

I know in other sections it is used...but usually the highest you might get on either is 3 I would say (or if I check back to see if I have any on an answer in any other category that isn't hot button issues, I have none and neither do any of the other questions). but in this section...10 thumbs up or downs is nothing.

The Apostles water baptized only in the name of Jesus Christ. How is it we have Religions, going against the doctrine of truth
concerning the true church structure ? Jesus stated in John 10:1 you are a thief and robber you accept anything other
than the message the Apostles taught. Jesus stated also in John 3:5 you cannot get into heaven without being water baptized and filled with Holy Ghost. Acts 2:4 states that when you are Born of Spirit you will speak in other tongues.

I've seen on here 2 or 3 really nasty atheists who simply go off on God just for the heck of it. But I have a bet going that the atheists on here will decide. If you are talking with it could be anyone & they were to say something like God Forbid or Lord help me, I doubt very much that most of you would say Your God doesn't exist or Lords not going to help you. I say that the only time you say that is when people ask how you feel or what your opinion is. My brother thinks that atheists will take any opportunity to spout off & I say only when provoked. All atheists opinions welcome. Please no one who believes answer, this is an important bet, Thank you.

My mother and I fight about this all the time. I live in the bible belt of North Carolina and can not find a church near me that is what I am looking for.(they are all huge and your just a number to them) She feels you have got to physically go to church to worship god and hear sermons. I love to watch sermons on tv on sunday morning and read my bible when I have time. I pray and worship god in my own ways at home. Am I wrong?

I read in the newspaper that President Bush gave the Pope a walking stick with the Ten Commandments.

I'm curious whether it was the Protestant version of the Catholic version... Anyone know?

I feel as though I've drifted away from God. I haven't been to church in over a year and haven't opened up my Bible in that long, either. I used to love going to church, it gave me a sense of overwhelming peace and closeness to God but since the death of my mother two years ago, I don't feel like worshipping anymore. Since then, I've also abrubtly cut off all remaining family (aunts, uncles, cousins, father) except for my adult brother who lives with me.
I am feeling very despondent & alone & am not sure what to do. Should I try going to church again (even though the desire is not there) in the hope of rekindling the love I once had for church & God?
