There is an intelligent debate that can be had over the theory of evolution and how it relates to the Bible but some Christians reject the debate and put forward ideas which open them up to ridicule.

For an example see this link

So does fundamental Christianity damage its credibility and pushing potential Church members away?

then why do some people still use lev 18:22 and 20: 13 as evidence against homosexuality

20:9 "For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him."

18:22 "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination"

20:13 "If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them."

why is it that of two things that are only verses away from each other, one is still in play, and the other isn't?

note: i'm not being mean or nitpicky. i honestly don't understand how this works.

No man can come unto the Father except through me. Jesus is the way truth and the light, and the only way to Heaven is Jesus. The saints in Heaven are only saved by the grace of God and becaue God sent his Son to die for them. Jesus is our interceeder and interceeds on our behalf. We do not need anyone alse interceeding for us, if that was the case nobody would go to Heaven as they were not worthy either. Jesus is the only one who is fit to do that, as God listens to his Son and agrees with him on everything as the Father and the Son are one in likness.

I have been in this section quite a bit and am just wondering (out of curiousity and concern) why this is just a debate between Christians and non-Christians. Nothing is ever resolved and I constantly see hateful and impatient comments. This should be a place to explore, to ask repectful and kind questions without having to worry about being chastised. Without finger pointing, why do you think this is so?

It's not like he's a God, he's a human being. He might live his life according to the Bible but I just don't understand why people worship one human being, he can't walk on water. Can anyone tell me why he means so much to so many Catholics?

explain this to me. because the way i see it, god is omniscient and omnipotent, which means that when he created both satan and man, he knew full well what was going to happen and yet he created them anyway. so it IS ultimately his responsibility, whether satan or free will is the cause of evil.

i mean, if i KNEW that my husband was going to get shot if i sent him to the grocery store, and i sent him anyway, would i not be held somewhat responsible for what happens?

I was brought up Catholic, but in the past couple of years, I have been wondering all about it. I believe I'm more spirtual than anyting. I'm beginning to belive that organized religions are all man made. I mean, how can the pope, just one man, be infallable? There is so much more I want to know. Are there any good books or movies out there that can give me better answers?

My friends have urgently asked me to develop a web site that answers many questions about the Mormon faith. I am pleased to announce that we are in the process of acquiring the rights to the domain www.lds-temple.com. Our beloved Mormon church has not explained why some Mormons enjoy a polygamist household called by the Lord. I am also writing a children's book so titled, "Don't Call Me An Alien Because I Have Three Mommies and a Daddy." This beautiful first edition will be given out free from my web site

Do you think that Muslim countries should apply Sharia law to be better? or become better; and then apply Sharia law? The question is not that simple, because in a corrupted country, corrupted witnesses might be hired to harm others or impose some kind of penalty of them according to Sharia.. Please give me your opinion.

"Also he made a molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and five cubits the height thereof; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about." - 1 Kings 7:23

Now that implies value of Pi to be 3 exactly. Now if you're going to take bible literally, won't this little error mess up large calculations?

For example, in calculating circumference of earth...

The fact is, Earth's circumference is 40008 km approximately.

The diameter is 12,756 km.

NOW, If you go by Biblical value of Pi, if we take it literally...

The formula,

c = d * pi

Hence, c = 12756 * 3

The biblical answer would be = 38268.

Huge difference! Totally incorrect. The actual answer is 40008 km, with minute approximation.

So, would you still like to use bible literally?

Or maybe atleast call it an allegory to avoid the real embarrasment in Math classes.
