What is our third eye ?

I just now read in a magzine that if we see life through our third eye, we spot its limitlessness........so curious. How does it works?

The third eye and the symbolism of shiva represents psychic abilities like clairvoyence, telepathy, telekinesis etc.

its an ESP, an extra sensory perception. Third eye is a reference to the sixth(higher) chakra. Each chakra is symbolic of different levels of conciousness.

This chakra is known as the brow chakra or third eye center. It is related to the act of seeing, both physically and intuitively beyond the physical into the spiritual.

how does it work? the way to 'activate' that chakra or to build that perception is through meditation.
The consciousness in that dimension transcends from the confines of the physical realm into the metaphysical.
As such it opens our psychic faculties and our understanding of archetypal levels.

Aside from the spiritual connotations of the "third eye" in some religions or philosophies, our third eye is indeed the pineal gland or epiphysis cerebri (not to be confused with bone epiphyses).
It's situated between our brain hemispheres, above the brain stem and connected to it, and it's an endocrine gland that secretes melatonin, essential for the regulation and control of normal activity patterns and day/night cycles.

Although this gland doesn't look like an eye at all in us humans, it is indeed a real "eye" capable of perceiving luminic stimuli in other vertebrates. It is especially well-developed in some lizards, in which it appears as a whitish spot on the top of their heads:

This third eye of animals is probably what inspired the idea of the mystical 'third eye' related to expanded consciousness, enlightment and the like. As I'm a zoologist, and not an expert in esoteric knowledge, I'll just leave the wiki link for it:

The third Eye is the sixth of the seven spiritual centers which in inside the skull just above the eye brows and in the center.
It looks out at the world and the seventh is like and eye as well looking up. This is called the crown Chakra.

It is something that Christians are not suppose to mess with, but before I was saved I did and I opened mine. It is not something anyone should want to do, as it lets you see the unknown that is of satan (something else I didn't know). People who are into reading tarot cards and telling the future do meditation and open that eye which is also known as the psychic eye. Again, this is very demonic and once you open it, it is hard to get rid of the rest. I had to pray alot and ask God to please close this third eye, as it was terrible and can cause nightmares, etc. I opened it to begin with because I thought it would help me to give better card readings. What a terrible sin. I am now truly forgiven and my third eye is now sealed again.

P.S.: It works through BREATHING and MEDITATION.

It is also related to HEARING and other senses.

You can reach your SIXTH SENSE through the other five but you need to be in a QUIET PLACE and try to HEAR the sound of SILENCE. That's an exercise of sensitivity. You will begin to sense things other people can't. But if you don't have THE GIFT it will be a lot harder.
