I recall all the craze over Alice Cooper and then Marilyn Manson. Parents were frantic because they believed these artists were targeting their kids and corrupting their minds. I am really tempted to believe that it was not really about the actual corruption of their children's minds so much as it was the trend of dark make-up. Marilyn Manson actually has some very intelligent things to say if you take the time to listen. Not only that but he encourages people to think for themselves rather than believe what he says. That should be a give away that he is not corrupting people with his beliefs.

Now look at people like Ron Luce: http://www.battlecry.com/
This guy is so extreme in his religious ideas that he has put together a national tour where he preaches his beliefs to teenagers. He openly admits that he wants them to believe and act a certain way. He has created his own brainwashing camp in Texas. He boasts that he is creating an army of Christian teens to fight MTV & others...

With the present rate of "my god is better than your god" and headstrong justification about one's religion, does this section have any spirituality left ? If yes, how long it will take before in this section only religion will remain devoid of any spirituality.

In the culture, especially Pakistani that I am very familiar with as I lived in it for 5 years (not Pakistan, but the community in the US) and still am very into, they have a lot of dinner parties and birthday parties, did you know this? Did you know that for each occasion, her husband buys her new clothing and jewellry along with a nice pair of shoes to match, including the children (in my experience anyway)? Did you know we are not as oppressed as you think, even though I am white, but they are the same? Did you know that we go shopping when we want to, go for a drive when we feel like it, take the kids out, and have the right to demand payment for the housework and child care? Does any of this surprise you? Does it surprise you to know that most of our husbands do not complain as long as when they are hungry there is food available for them to either reheat or microwave and bread to eat it with? And did you know that if they lay a hand on us out of anger, rarely, we rescind?

When I look at history, I see a human race that didnt need to concentrate on common values but specifically concentrated on their religion or race to unite themselves.

why is it a need now do you think?

is it because theres less tolerance towards people of different faiths?

I really wonder how many people would still say some of the horrible things they have said on here if they knew everyone could really see who they were and not some cartooned impression?

That being said, I am not inclined to show my real pic simply because there are creeps on the internet.

Nevertheless, I think I will ask myself from time to time, "Would I really be typing this if I had my real picture posted along side it?"

Do you think he's talking about the physical nation of Israel or spiritual Israel?

I don't mean to exclude people of other religions or people who have no religion but I just wanted a Christian view on the scripture. Thanks.

I have been debating on which Buddhist Temple to go to... Thervada or Mahayana. What is the difference? I don't know any Buddhists so I don't have any resources. On one of my other questions, I was told to go to a meditation center. What's done at a meditation center? The obvious answer would be meditation goes on, but I mean what else? Can I get info? I would really like to know where to go to talk to someone about it. Any thoughts? Thanks!!!

what makes the religious theory (god, adam...) so acceptable among people compared to any other theory?
dont tell me "because other theories dont make sense" since there is alot of room for sketicism when it comes to the three main religions.

I go to a school where there are only maybe 5 christian students, or 5 kids who say they are and act by it. It's hard because some kids say they are and act in ways that aren't Godly. I'm not the type to start an arguement, I really hate conflices. People walk all over me and I don't know how to tell them to stop without starting a fight. Any help would be great. But I stiil what to show God with what I do.

Jainism is a religion that came into being in Ancient India. They believe that the universe was never created and will not cease to exist. They do not believe in a god.
Jainsits believe in performing good works and are highly ethical. They are completely non-violent. They are so against violence that they will not kill insects or in some cases microscopic organisms. They have opened many animal rescue shelters in Indian and most are Vegans. They are horrified by the idea of killing a human being for any reason.
So, if these people are acting, in every sense of the word, highly moral lives and do not believe in a deity, then how can you say that your god is necessary for there to be morality in the world?

Please only if you are Christian, or Jewish answer!
I cuss a lot, I am addicted to shopping, I talk about people behind their backs, I don't really "Love thy neighbor" I tolerate thy neighbor, I am critical of others', and sometimes lie. When I'm in school, I feel like I'm living 2 seperate lives, one is shy, and quiet (in school) and the other cusses, etc. I also think I have the sin of vanity. But the good things that I do are: I am caring abiut animals, try to help others (that I know, and am related to), taught my grandpa to use the computer, I have a friend that had Cancer and not many people in the class I had with her wanted to talk to her or anything, and I became her friend. I try to find ways that I can help the environment, and I am kinda obsessed with doing things to prepare for diasters. Please give me a honest answer.

For example, "Why do Jehovah Witnesses believe Christ was killed on a stake, not a cross?". Then they go on as to say they're wrong, Jesus died on a cross, and their religion is the right one and blah blah blah. There are TONS of questions like these on here! It's another religion, they're going to believe in different things than you! Can't you people grow up?! Just so you know, I do not belong to an organized religion.

Ok, it doesnt really have to be a religious or spiritual movie. I am just trying to keep it on topic on the surface. So, what song would play when your character walked into the room? I am thinking about Creep by Radiohead for me. (Yes, it is a low self esteem day. Why do you ask?)
