For example, "Why do Jehovah Witnesses believe Christ was killed on a stake, not a cross?". Then they go on as to say they're wrong, Jesus died on a cross, and their religion is the right one and blah blah blah. There are TONS of questions like these on here! It's another religion, they're going to believe in different things than you! Can't you people grow up?! Just so you know, I do not belong to an organized religion.

This is "the last days".

(2 Timothy 3:1-7) But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, ...haughty, blasphemers, ...not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, ...having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; ... always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth.

I don't belong to an organized religion, either. What you say is sometimes true; however, in the particular instance that you mention, there are two sides to the story.

For several months, I have observed that on the subject of the cross, the "pro-stakers" often quote an abundance of information that seemingly proves their belief in the stake. ( I should point out that I don't think it's possible to be certain if it was a cross or a plain stake. ) However, I've been disturbed that some pro-stakers present only the information that agrees with the stake theory, and omit extremely relevant information on the subject. As an example, the Imperial Bible Dictionary actually gives more support to the cross theory, but I've seen it quoted on here repeatedly, omitting the part that supports the cross, while quoting other portions which seemingly lend support to the stake theory.

Just this week, I myself have asked a couple of pointed questions about the cross - not to degrade or argue with anyone - but to hopefully point out some differences between factual information and questionable conclusions that have very little basis in fact. As I said before, I don't even have a preference for either the cross or the stake, but when I see that only HALF the facts are presented, I think someone should present the other half. It seems that most of the cross supporters don't present much evidence FOR the cross - most (not all) just accept it out of tradition.

Yahoo Answers is here to provide answers, and I think the answers should be honest, factual, and well-rounded - not one-sided.

Hi,
You are right. People tend to gravitate towards a belief system only to degrade an others belief system. It almost turns into an us vs. them mentality. It should show you that people really do need Christ, or a Savior of some type. We are in fact all sinners who need desperately some sort of saving grace just to get along. The Bible says "do not put your trust in men" and now you know why...we are all lost in some twisted way or another. In the mean time try to be reasonable with your fellow sinners. As far as the cross thing goes, I'm sure the Romans weren't short on crosses the day Jesus was put to death. That was their way to put criminals to death. That would be like running out of needles in our day and having a death row inmate drink poison instead. It just doesn't make sense. Besides...crosses are made from trees, so there's the connection they might be missing!

Maybe in some instances, but not all. I really think that some people ask questions about another religion to either get the followers of that religion to think a little deeper, or because they truly want to learn something.

Matthew 19:nine is in all Bibles and so much Protestant denominations enable re-marriage if one partner dedicated adultery (considering adultery breaks the wedding bond). You are creating a fair assumption that the JWs are pointing their finger at Catholicism for no longer enabling divorce at the grounds of adultery. However, approximately a 3rd of JWs had been born into that faith, a 3rd had been Catholics, and the leisure had been both irreligious or Protestant. They honestly hate Protestantism simply up to they do Catholicism. They say each and every faith aside from their possess goes to be destroyed through God at Armageddon, so do not take it too for my part! Perhaps you might discover it for your middle to hope for JWs, that they are going to give up pointing their finger at every body else such a lot and begin to be aware of the individual of Christ as an alternative? Wouldn't that be beautiful?

haha im a jehovahs whitness. and there are TONS of reasons it cannot be a cross.

anyways.. to answer your question. when people are in an organized religion and become dedicated to it, they feel that its the only right one without seeing what other religions learn. and when they want to see what the other religions believe, they take what they already know and use it to defend themselfs i guess.

I think sometimes it could be a ego booster. Insulting other people makes them feel better about themselves.
I would love to learn more about the Muslin religion. And I having been reading some of the answers on here and looking up a little info on it.

It happens in every question. If something comes up about a different religious practice, sure enough someone will chime in it's the devil and they have the one true way, while having nothing to do with the topic. I agree, it gets really old.

yes, you're right. people do that in an attempt to make jw's feel stupid. we are in the last days and it says in the bible that people are going to do this. you can try and defend any religion you want but arrogant people will just think of other things to say to make jw's or whoever look like an idiot.
