I'm in my early 20's and still live with my parents...I stuggle with trying to honor them(i know i have to espesially since i'm still under thier roof) cuz they are strict and i feel like i'm treated like i'm still 16. yes i'm a Christian and was raised so...but i don't have the same convictions on everything they do...they threw away all my cd's that weren't christian, they tell me to change if my t-shirt is "too tight"...and try to not let me date...i'm so close to my mom and don't want to hurt her! but just being good to please them is not going to get me to heaven...it's like they try to protect me from all evil and i just have a hard time going with it...

I saw this comedian yesterday who is actually serious when saying that God is either a woman or a gay guy. I thought it was going to be a joke but he says he's serious, and I thought his view was very interesting. He says "look at all the colors of the earth, how beautiful and how many different colors there are on earth. Then he shows a picture of the sea and all of the beautiful fishes. Then he says, if God was a guy all fishes would look like this: then he shows a picture of an ugly ugly monstrous fish! lol...Then he says, only a woman has this dam n much to say, then he shows the huge Bible! I thought his view was so cool. I always had a clue about Jesus beig y'no...cause he's such a good human being and caring and nurturing, but God, I never thought of this, until now, and yeah probably he's right..Not that I know, none of us know...What are your opinions on this? Do your opinions look similar to mine? Let me know..Thanks

I'd want to check out the civil war era, I enjoyed reading about it and the movies and the tv, and I would want to sit there at the side of one of those battles, watching bravery, they did that, reports, local folk, even the President.

names of God and I just finished learning a new name. One of the names of God is Jehovah--Shalom, meaning "The Lord is Peace." How awesome is that? In His Word it talks about the Lord bringing us peace, but for that to actually be one of His names. It is my understanding that God wants us all to feel His peace. When we have Him in our lives, honestly, why should we feel anything but? One of the names of Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
In Isaiah we see this verse:
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
What does that tell us, dear friends? If we keep our mind focused on God and trust in Him, He will give us perfect peace. I think that means even in times of strife, even in times of depression, no matter what we are going through in our lives.
Dear friends,
if you are going through troublesome times, embrace Jehovah--Shalom, He wants you to be at peace. The Lord is Peace. Please email me if you have prayer requests.

It seems that there are more and more car bombings and suicide bombers, people committing suicide and takings others with them. What's the driving force for this increase in what I'd call bizarre behavior. It's a non-sequitur. Some of it is religiously motivated, but others seem to madness or maybe a disease. The religiously motivated ones are a disease too. Is there a philosophical reason behind this?

The world isn't ending. No one is judging you. You're not going to suffering in hell forever. You don't have to derrive your moral code from a book that also features talking animals. You don't have to get up early sunday. You don't have to give anyone your money. You don't have to feel guilty. You don't have to pray. You don't owe your existence to a creator who can make a "perfect" universe but refuses to alliviate human suffering.

Sorry, I'm just in a state of don withdrawal today

ODE TO WHYNOTASKDON:

Oh whynotaskdon,
how we miss thee,
and how your wisdom rained,
like apples from a tree

and although we poked fun at you,
we’d laugh and jest and jeer,
we always felt better,
whenever you were near.

You told us about God,
And about our burning fate,
And how you felt sorry for us,
Because we’d realize The Truth too late.

Many months have passed,
Since we’ve seen your face,
So many months in fact,
That even the clones are laid to waste

Your account has been deleted,
You returned nevermore,
But without you Yahoo Answers,
Has become a total bore.

with this new poem
I risk a reporting or two
but oh whynotaskdon
I'll risk it just for you.

And now with this poem
I say adieu to thee
And your wisdom that rained
Like apples from a tree.

so many people in here say they're not religious, but they believe in god and live by the bible, and worship jesus, and pray, all the same things that religious people do.

doesn't this mean you're religious or belong to a religion?

Why does it burn and turn to ashes just as quickly as the wood in my fireplace? I've conducted this experiment 12 times last winter, and I have yet to find a bible that lasts eternally under these conditions. Doesn't that prove that the word really isn't eternal, it just has too many copies in circulation?

Piltdown Man: An Orang-utan Jaw and a Human Skull. Alleged to be 500,000 years old, they were displayed as an absolute proof of human evolution in several museums. For more than 40 years, many scientific articles were written on "Piltdown man", many interpretations and drawings were made, and the fossil was presented as important evidence for human evolution. No fewer than 500 doctoral theses were written on the subject. A lie that lasted 40 and challenged the faith of many Christians. But was proven a LIE.

Read about all the other lies that deceive Science and Christianity here:

Ask your self, do you put faith in a polished lie or do you believe in the bible which says that God created man in his own immage. God has said that all things will pass away, but my word will not pass away.

Choose you this day who you will serve. As for me and my house, I will serve the Lord.

I was visiting America just before Easter and of course Easter found me there. I was shocked beyong belief that everything continues as normal during this special time and America, being a Christian country, should be the one leading the whole world in celebrating by making sure there is no school and no-one goes to work (public holiday). In South Africa, it is a great time and we go out to visit our parents and relatives to be together remembering what Christ did for mankind. Am I missing something?
