names of God and I just finished learning a new name. One of the names of God is Jehovah--Shalom, meaning "The Lord is Peace." How awesome is that? In His Word it talks about the Lord bringing us peace, but for that to actually be one of His names. It is my understanding that God wants us all to feel His peace. When we have Him in our lives, honestly, why should we feel anything but? One of the names of Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
In Isaiah we see this verse:
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
What does that tell us, dear friends? If we keep our mind focused on God and trust in Him, He will give us perfect peace. I think that means even in times of strife, even in times of depression, no matter what we are going through in our lives.
Dear friends,
if you are going through troublesome times, embrace Jehovah--Shalom, He wants you to be at peace. The Lord is Peace. Please email me if you have prayer requests.

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. John 14:27

Sadly, this so-called "question" completely misrepresents the bible's use of the term "Jehovah-shalom". Firstly, no honest translation of the expression would include the word "lord"; the original Hebrew expression translates into English as "Jehovah is Peace". Secondly, the term appears exactly once in the bible, and plainly refers to the place (or the altar itself) described in this account:
(Judges 6:24) Gideon built an altar there to Jehovah, and it continues to be called Jehovah-shalom down to this day. It is yet in Ophrah of the Abierites.
Thus, the term "Jehovah-Shalom" is not another name of Jehovah God any more than "Washington DC" is another name for the first President of the United States.

Please review the following information.
If I write, “Larry es listo.” The english word for word translation is “Larry is wise.”
If I was to translate it “The man is wise” that would be a very poor translation. Why?
For two reasons.
First Larry is a proper name and
2nd, Larry is already in english’
Why is this important? Well Jehovah-jireh translated into english is not “The LORD will provide” but “Jehovah will provide.”
Why, because Jehovah is already in english, and Jehovah is a proper name, the same as Larry.
If you doubt Jehovah is english, check any English dictionary. My college dictionary reads: “God’s name in Christian translations of the Old Testament. (equal to the Hebrew word Yahweh)”
Another interesting point is that Jehovah-jireh is a place not a different name for Jehovah. Jacob’s well is not another name for Jacob, but a well that is named after Jacob.
Jehovah-Nissi translates as “Jehovah is My Refuge”, or “Jehovah is My Exaltation”, again this is a place and not another name for God.
Another point to remember is that if we say Larry is a good provider. Larry is loving. Larry is kind and generous. We don’t have 3 or 4 Larrys, we have one Larry with four qualities.
When we say Jehovah provides, Jehovah is my refuge, and Jehovah is my sheppard we aren’t talking about 3 separate Jehovahs, we are describing 3 qualities of Jehovah.
When you think that the name of Jehovah is in the bible more times than the words lord, god, and Jesus combined. When you think of the fact that Jehovah knows the difference between the word Lord and His name, and he choose to use that name and not the word Lord we should learn from it.
Jesus said Jewish tradition invalidated God’s Word, why would Bible translators want to follow that tradition and remove God’s name from His Word, hiding Jehovah from the very people He wrote His book for? Matt 15:6-10

Yes, God's name is Jehovah. PS. 83: 18 "That people may know that you whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the most high over all the earth."
God is a title, there are many God's, but only one most high Jehovah. He is the one to put our trust in and who by his Kingdom will bring true peace to mankind.
PS 37: 10 & 11 "And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more, And you will certainly give attention t his place, and he will not be. But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth. And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." vs 29 "The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it."
This is possible by means of Jesus sacrifice 1 John 2:2 "He is a propitiatory sacrifice for our sins, yet not for ours only but also for the whole world's."
John 17: 3 "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God and the one whom you sent forth Jesus Christ."
Ps. 55: 22 "Throw your burden on Jehovah himself, And he himself will sustain you. Never will he allow the righteous one to totter."

Dear Qwyrx,
The Bible makes you shudder doesn't it? You didn't HAVE to post something, but you thought since you were scared at the fact she had posted something uplifting, you should ruin the mood by being a jerk. I hope that for the rest of the day when one of your anti-Christian friends on here posts a statement with no question, that you verbally attack them and be a jerk, also. But, we know that won't happen since you are inconsistent and only dislike Christianity.
Overall, I think you sum up almost every non-believer on here. You claim peace and morals, yet your actions are ridiculous.
Thanks for your time,
Ryan

his name is not Jehovah-shalom. Do not say his name if you can not pronoce it right. Just call him God for his name is not known to us. Aragont Christian....just cuss you think you know his name, does not mean you say it is correct. Call him Jesus for now, for the fathers name is not with us.
I found a God when I was seeking for him, he said his name was not Jesus, and I do not know his name. Then he brought me to proverbs 30:1-4, look at the last part of vers 4. What is his name, and what is his sons name, if thou canst tell. He showed me here that it was the father face that I was seeking. He showed me his sons name was Jesus, but his name was not.
Then I found recently
Rev 19:12 . His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that NO MAN KNEW, BUT HE HIMSELF.
is this a cool or what. To find God, and no one know's his name, I heard people say his name is Jahova, But why does God show these scriptures to me. Maybe we do not prononce it write
