Perhaps that is why the Jews never got on the Jesus bandwagon.

If you believe that the Jewish Messiah was supposed to be a warrior rabbi-King, then yes, I imagine you can think that Jesus was a letdown. The fact of the matter, however, is that the Old Testament and Jewish Torah never REALLY said that. That is merely how the Jews interpreted it. Essentially the Messiah took the form in their imagination of what they wanted. What you want and what you get are not always the same thing. Ask a Jew now what the Messiah will be like, and they likely will say something different. I mean, the Romans have been out of Judea for over a thousand years now, and there was no Messiah to do it. So obviously, even if Jesus was NOT the Messiah, they were wrong.

All of the Jews did not feel let down. Some actually embraced Jesus. You see Jews are people no different than you or I. The rub comes when a person sincerely wants to know TRUTH.
Some people say that they want to know truth but actually they just want to hear what they want to hear. Some Jews were not sincerely looking for TRUTH and they missed the opportunity of their lives. Some of them even had the opportunity to kiss Jesus cheek instead they spat on him.
What many of them failed to realize is before they get their warrior to set things straight in the nation Jesus had to deal with an issue that is far more important namely their souls having been traded to the devil as slaves. Our father Adam gets blamed for that. When Jesus died as God and man on the cross his "God blood" satisfied the spiritual code of justice. Only His blood could buy back those who would embrace his death as payment for their sins. Otherwise every man woman and child would spend eternity in a place called Hell. So first Jesus had to come as a Lamb(sacrifice) Now he is a Warrior for YOU if you let him be.

Definately not. The matters this world are only temporary. Where are the Romans now? What a waist of time if that's what Jesus came for. The matters of God are eternal and that's what He came for. If He had come for saving them from the Romans, then His death would have been in vain, because He would have came only for the Jews. So it would be pointless. But He came for the World. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son..." (John 3:16). That means that He died for you too. Isn't that better that you too can share in His eternal presence, if you except Him into your life.
"that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

He began in a humble manner, and totally went under the radar (perceptions of the Jewish leaders of their time) although this humble entry born into a what was then pitful place such as Nazareth.
You say "is it safe to say Jesus was kinda a letdown"
well, according to the prophecy of Scripture, and Jesus Words before he ascended into the sky after his reserection "You ain't seen nothing yet" (my paraphrased translation)
He indeed is a King, in fact the 'King of Kings'
You will see this come to pass,, in his timing
He is in his time of Grace and forgiveness now,,, but soon
He'll be back, to judge all earth in righteousness.
Be ready, for the time will come like a thief in the night.

Christ the Jewish Messiah comes twice. Once as he has for the Gentiles who wish to be linked to the Sons of Abraham, and a second time (Paul's episle to the Romans) for the Jews as a judge, or Warrior King at the end of time. The recent restoration of Israel should give an indication that the time is drawing near.

It's safe to say that if Jesus had been the messiah, we would have peace on earth and all Jews would be living in Israel.

That's why they conspired to kill Him. He claimed to be Messiah. But their idea of Messiah became more myth than fact, and by the time Jesus came, He was a disappointment to them.

That freaked a lot of people out - especially after he was crucified.
They expected him to jump down off the cross and whoop up on the soldiers.
Instead he just died.
If you are christian you think he came back three days later.
Though, like most things religious - you have to accept that on 'faith'.

First, He came to seek and to save that which was lost.
In His second coming, you will see the warrior King.
Every knee SHALL bow and every tongue confess that He is the Son of God.
