and early Christian sources speak of the humans becoming "gods"?

...just a few Biblical evidences....
1.To become heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, being glorified together (Romans 8:14-18)
2. As sons (and daughters) of God, to inherit all things that the Father has (Revelation 21:7)
3.To become one with Christ, as Christ is one with the Father (John 17:20-23)
4.To sit with Christ on His throne (Rev. 3:21)
5.To receive a glorified, immortal body like the body that Christ has (Philip. 3:21)
6.To partake of the divine nature and be given all things pertaining to life and godliness, receiving glory (2 Peter 1:3-4)
7.To be made - in some way - like Christ when He returns (1 John 3:2)
8.To be made kings and priests unto God and his Father (Rev. 1:6)
9. As spirit children of God, to become partakers of his holiness (Heb. 12:9-10)
10.To be exalted by God (1 Peter 5:6)
11.To become perfect, even as our Father in Heaven is perfect (Matt. 5:48)

I know there are religions that embrace complete pacifism. Is this belief based on a specific scripture in the Bible, or is it based mainly on Jesus' example of peace and living a non-violent life?

Okay...Tommorow I am going to the Family Christian Bookstore to purchase a new Bible. I am currently using the "Quest Study Bible" Hardcover, however, my first intentions of getting a new Bible was sticking with Quest Study Bible, just getting a navy leather cover. However, im kind of stuck between getting a new Bible, The Life Application Study Bible" Ive been using the same Quest Study Bible for 2 years now, ever since I rededicated my life to God...and I wanted to stick with it because Its hard to change Bibles, Im not sure if any of you out there feel the same way, but changing to a new Bible is hard. Im so familiar with my Quest Bible, and I have all my underlines and notes in it, but the LA Bible would be so helpful when I study in dept sometimes What would be someones advice of my problem? Should I go ahead and get the Quest Study Bible agan(leather cover) or move on to the Life Application Bible?

I've been asked many times: Do you know Jesus?
I always say: I know "ABOUT" Jesus (honestly) but no I don't "KNOW" him, I then ask do "YOU KNOW" Jesus...they say yes, I then ask a series of personal questions about Jesus and they always never know the answers...even though they say they "KNOW" him...they don't. I "KNOW" my mom & dad, I know what they like eat, I know what they are feeling just by the way they look, I "KNOW" my brother...because I "KNOW" them.
I have read for years "ABOUT" Jesus but I don't "KNOW" him...only what I've read in the bible.
I don't know the itimate details of him and I've never spoken to anyone who does. I've only heard the flowery speeches like: He walks with me he talks with me, he's my everything, I love Jesus soo much..on and on...yet the details of personal knowledge of "KNOWING" him are never there...like I know my family members and people I care about. Jesus said in Matt 7:15-23 to unbelievers: depart from me..I never "KNEW" you

After searching the Y!A archives and not finding this question, I decided to ask it. It is for my own understanding and curiosity. Please do not take offense as I am truly interested in your responses.

I am curious as to why there are so many atheists involved in the "Religion & Spirituality" section of Y!A. Why? I was always under the assumption that atheism was devoid of just that - religion and spirituality. Please explain this for me. Thank you for your time in seriously considering this question.

Don't answer for others, just for yourself, please!

Did your religious beliefs factor into your decision on who you voted for in the last Presidential election?

Mine did and I'm a fundamentalist Christian who voted against Bush because I don't agree with his stance on the use of tax dollars (spend more on the war than on issues that need to be addressed here to care for our citizens).

What about you, did your religious views factor into this and what religion or non religion are you?

why do they dismiss out of hand the idea that the energy from which this Universe is created from is without beginning or end? The argument that "God" created the world out of nothing but a "God" itself was "always" here strikes me as non-sensical.

If you don't know the answer, then you don't really know what the Bible said about homosexuality, before it was mistranslated into English in 1611.

shame on Religious leaders who want to grow their empires by propagation?

(Before you quote Paul, tell us any of his teachings that were even remotely the same as Jesus' teachings.)

PS: Did Jesus tell us that some people are born with unique "sexual" inclinations?

When I take my 4 year old son to the Harry Potter theme park will I have to dodge Christians who have signs that quote Leviticus where it says wizards should be put to death?

If my son is in a wizard costume will Christians yell at me and tell me I am a bad parent?

Since I'm an atheist, don't fundamentalist Christians think I suck to begin with, so this is just more reason to not like me?

This question is directed towards people who eat kosher, but feel free to answer if you have an opinion. I've worked for several different cruise lines in my career and it has been my experience that people who request kosher meals throughout the voyage often cast aside their religious beliefs when all-you-can-eat lobster is on the menu, and completely pig out on the tasty crustaceans. I'm not trying to be mean or anti-semetic, so save me the lectures, I just want to know why?
