Lets say you were born a Hindu, now you growing up you are taught to beleive that your religion is true, same for Christianity.

Now lets say a Christian missionary comes to the Hindu village and starts saying that the Christian religion is true.
Do you really think someone would just switch religions because someone told them so?

Also, since they are a different religion they go to Hell, There religion is passed down etc. Since the Hindu's ancestors didnt create the right religion thousands of years ago, they go to hell

Not very fair..

When Russell was away from me in Australia, my biggest fear was that something would happen to him and I'd never see him again. I'd ask him almost every night, "Promise you'll be careful. Promise you'll come home safe." He would always reassure me that he would be, and he would ask what could possibly happen to him. The only thing I could think of was that he might be hit by a car while walking to town.

When Russell died, he was walking well to the side of an old country road, with half a mile of empty country side in front of him and another half a mile behind him. The odds seem impossible that a sober driver would lose control of his car, swerve off the road, and hit him at 50 mph, when a moment earlier or a moment later Russell would have been safe and the car merely dinged up in a ditch.

Is it at all possible that my nightly worrying that Russell could get run over somehow caused him to get run over? It would break my heart if this was somehow my fault, but I need to know?

*shrugs* I'll probably be on meds and close to senile, so if I need to just blurt out something about believing in Jesus to go to heaven, why not.....the 70-80 years before that, I'll live a wild and crazy agnostic life where I seek all sorts of amazing life experiences with different views.....have wild sex....do some drugs.....drink some....party.....have kids.....fight....etc....

I'm not trying to rag on religious people here, hear me out. By cut and dry hard nose logic. A belief in a God (as traditionally defined) is not logical. Do you believe that there are things that logic cannot explain? Where logic breaks down and something higher takes over? Can logic be wrong?

I've basically gathered that any attempts to change a fundamentalist's mind about being one-sided and close-minded regarding perspectives of life is pointless. They have completely given their entire selves into a way of perspective or belief that strictly forbids them to stray. Straying would equal eternal punishment.

I'm amazed at the answers in here....people are purposefully not evolving their thoughts to see higher angles or views of life.....they have obtusely set their minds to their one religious view and will deny all else......how can people like this be put into powerful positions that are in control of what others with different articles of faith believe? It simply amazes me....

In your opinion why does it appear that American Christianity has become the love child of Capitalism, individualism and greed. I have purused the ghettos of Christian television and have become appalled at the heresy.

Prosperity Preachers like Creflo Dollar, Jamal Bryant, Keneth Hagin, Oral Roberts and Fred Price and etc depict God as a grand slot machine; If you tithe to the church GOD will bless you with a Benz, Bentley, new house, car and more bling bling.

It seems that the thesis of there message is that to have those things are a sign of divine blessings and favor. DOES THIS POP-CULTURAL MESS BOTHER ANYONE BUT ME??????

Does it even bother anyone that these beautiful celebraty preachers who dress like characters on soap operas are not even smart and do not have earned accredidated degrees? Can't congregants make a case to sue them for spiritual malpractice? I think the gospel that they preach is the equavelant of spiritual homocide. (murdering the spiritually weak)

A few responders stated that Christianity should not be judged by the participants on an internet site.

Fair enough, but how are others -- including those of like-minded beliefs -- to discern what should be interpreted as "Christian-like" behavior, and what is not? Do you get to choose when you act like a Christian and when you do not?

to ignore the obvious sarcasm hateful postings that some of the atheist on here post. Whenever I log on to Yahoo! Answers I always come across some sass about our Savior. There’s always somebody egging Christians, like myself, on to say something hateful or derogatory. I have fallen into the trap myself, wanting to defend Him, and I couldn’t help but feel wrong for feeding into it, not to mention I was not setting a Christian example, and knowing He does not need me to defend Him because his work speaks for itself.

Do you think, as a Christian we should ignore obvious sarcastic hateful questions and only answer questions of people who are really looking for a truthful answer?

As Christians we know we can not change anybody, but pray and let Jesus do his work! ~God Bless~

Collapse of the Welfare State: Their social welfare models may make the present nice, but as their liberal anti-child and anti-family views cause their population to shrink while their older people go permanently on the dole, their system will collapse, as is happening in places like Germany (which has other economic issues, I know). Many of these countries are borrowing from tomorrow to maintain their high standard of current living

Use of pesticides, for example, has seen the emergence of
insecticide-resistant mosquitoes.
Deliberate or accidental introduction of animals has a big impact. Cane toads, introduced into Australia to control a beetle pest in the 1930s, are spreading rapidly
through the country. Interestingly, they are themselves evolving: animals at the front of the invasion, those spreading fastest,
have longer legs than those towards the rear.
Cane toads are poisonous, but toad-eating Australian red-bellied black snakes have evolved resistance to their toxins (and are also less likely to eat them) in toad-infested areas.

my fundy brethren, You accuse theists of appealing to the Gaps when asked to explain our origins. This is circular logic which is based on presumption of atheism being true. Atheists could be accused of appealing to the Gaps,if there's God, over time our knowledge of Him will increase, and so theism will be once proven to be true. In this scenario all the attempts to disprove, or show that God is not needed, would be labeled as appealing to the Gaps in your knowledge of God. Ofcourse atheists will appeal to the trend, reality is increasingly explained by natural mechanisms. But is it? And which trend we will choose, life is much more complex than it was thought, what if this complexity is machine-like, not just any complexity? Sure science is great tool to explain reality, but only when it empirical. Historical sciences are much more ambigious. If God was once used to explain all gaps in knowledge, it it was obviously a mistake.
