In your opinion why does it appear that American Christianity has become the love child of Capitalism, individualism and greed. I have purused the ghettos of Christian television and have become appalled at the heresy.

Prosperity Preachers like Creflo Dollar, Jamal Bryant, Keneth Hagin, Oral Roberts and Fred Price and etc depict God as a grand slot machine; If you tithe to the church GOD will bless you with a Benz, Bentley, new house, car and more bling bling.

It seems that the thesis of there message is that to have those things are a sign of divine blessings and favor. DOES THIS POP-CULTURAL MESS BOTHER ANYONE BUT ME??????

Does it even bother anyone that these beautiful celebraty preachers who dress like characters on soap operas are not even smart and do not have earned accredidated degrees? Can't congregants make a case to sue them for spiritual malpractice? I think the gospel that they preach is the equavelant of spiritual homocide. (murdering the spiritually weak)

Too oftenthese pseudo christians feed on others greed and need. But Biblically it is to be expected. Too many are looking to this world and not the next.

Hey, now. Jamal Bryant has a Masters of Divinity.

Other than that, I agree with you. But these prosperity preachers are nothing new... they have long roots in the spirit of Protestantism. In fact, prosperity gospel is just a crude combination of protestantism, Western individualism and the US Manifest Destiny of the early 20th century. And it must be noted that it is not just American Christians (or for that matter ALL Christians in America) that relate to God as if God is a cosmic bellhop. That has it's roots deep in Europe.

And, honestly, it has nothing to do with Pop-Culture. It is, instead, a reflection of the society in the Church (can someone say be thou separated from the world?). I mean, look at the values of the rest of U.S. culture. Are they much different from Creflo Dollar's sermons? From flipping houses to gambling, U.S. society is --and has been-- bent on "get-rich-quick. It's just a shame that preachers can't preach the Word for preaching the world.

the Bible teaches that God blesses tithing & giving. Which bothers you more, their prosperity or their lack of'accredidated' degrees (whatever that is)? I happen to know that Creflo Dollar, Kenneth Hagin,& Fred Price have PhD's. I believe Oral Roberts does, too.. I have put into practice the principles these men teach & I've been blessed as a result.

My good works will never get me into heaven!
it is the grace of God! Giving my heart and all that I am to Jesus. I tithe because God says too. I help others .because that is what Jesus did.I go to a wonderful church that preaches the word of God!
Our best works are as filthy rages. His word says if we give a drink of water in the name of Jesus it is the same as giving it to h im.
God has given me beauty for ashes.
God has prospered me. I don't hoard it.
I bless others. I came up the hard way.
I help others , I don't live fancy or drive a Bentley.
I do have a few nice things and a comfortable little farm in the country that I am restoring.
The important things that mean the most to me is.
All my kids are saved and walking with God.
We are blessed . Iam very proud and grateful for the many gifts in my life. Spiritually, physically and financially. God is good.
People have to find out for their selves.............
Read his word . study and pray.
And he also said Not to cast stones at others!
If God's servants are missing God he will let them know it.

Being an American Christian, I have seen it first hand.
I know how fraudulent they are too. I have tried to warn people about the problems with these people, but usually get hit with an accusation of either a lack of faith, or being judgemental.
Meanwhile, they continue to lose money to them.
People, if they were to become so absolutely familiar with their Bible, would never get taken. They would KNOW the truth.
These frauds can only take the ignorant.
The simple believe every word, however these frauds wish to "interpret" the Word of God.

Organized Christianity was formed by Rome to control the people. Part of the control was to make loads of money; this has been going on since the beginning, and it not about what Jesus taught.

Jesus taught that God is within each of us, individually. Not external, in church, bible or minister. God is within each one of us, because we are the Children of the Creator.

I agree. The atonement, the blood, the cross, the resurrection, eternal life and the Christlike lifestyle seem to be all but forgotten.

He is not some used salesman testing his spiel on some unsuspecting marks. He is the Lord, and His representatives should be preaching His gospel, not fattening their wallets.

That is not true. People, like you are so confused. Just as you pay taxes so teachers can teach our kids, so are we to give to church so the pastor can continue to teach God's word. The offering in essence goes to God (i.e. his work) They cannot do Gods work completely for free nor does God want them to.

You only see the surface and not the ocean beneath. The fact is that God does bless the hand of your work, the fruit of your labor. That does not mean everybody who gives will be a millionaire and the people who ATTEND church, know that!

Religious alignment doesn't guarantee pure thoughts, good behaviour, honest dealings, humility, compassion or even any real belief. Religion for many people is a commodity which may have little bearing on spirituality.
