Try and bear with me on this as I will appear to rabbit on before I answer the question, but it needs a little detail. (I've also posted this answer to a similar question.)

Everything in the world is made up of the same stuff - the stuff of stars, i.e. everything has evolved from stellar matter. And everything gets re-cycled. Dust to dust and all that. We are made of bits that have been used countless times before, plants, dinosaurs, rocks, people… Nothing is permanent, everything changes. Also, when you look at what everything is actually made of, you see that nothing exists in its own right. There is nothing human about the individual atoms that make us up. We are all made up of non-human elements. Therefore, by our very nature (or non-nature to get Zen-like about it) we are empty of any true nature.

On top of all that, our cells are being replaced all the time, and so we are not the same as we were, say, as a child. You could say that we are in a constant state of being "reborn" every moment. So, on a purely physical level, we are recycled materials. Therefore, it could be said that anyone who claims to be Napolean may, at least, be partly right!

OK, almost there. So if we accept that, then what are / where are our feelings, perceptions, volitions and consciousness? Well, if our physical bodies are in a state of flux, then more so are our feelings etc. No substantiality, no stability, no permanence, and no self! What happens, therefore, after death? Just for the sake of argument, assume there is some form of continuation. But if there is constant change, there is no permanent soul. Our memory cannot be carried forward because that is stored in our brains. We are not reborn into a new body like we have just changed our clothes. Somehow, our actions and experiences, positive and negative, pass on but are still subject to the continuous change that affects everything. Liken it to a burning candle. The flame is in constant change as it burns, and the candle shrinks. Just at the point when the flame is about to burn out, transfer the flame to a new candle. Is the flame, on the new candle, the same flame? Yes, and no. It cannot be the same flame, but it is a continuation. Likewise, so are we. Moment to moment, certainly. And beyond… ?

The After Life is composed of Energy. The Materialistic view point can't prove what it doesn't see because it is in a lower dimensional reality. Atheists are practical, materialistic, and only see with that point of view with their two eyes. Other Religions have there own way of explaining how the Soul enters Creation. Creation is everything. We are all connected.

Life has a cycle of Birth, Life, then Death and it repeats itself over and over developing new knowledge and wisdom along the way. You can see this pattern through Nature. This helps Creation make new life with Love and Perfection.

We are all Eternal. Negativity and Positivity coincide. No matter what the view point is in answering this question, one fact remains, we are all One.

Death is a Gate Way to the Next Journey. Life is a gift. Many take it for granted. Life is a Miracle, an Expression.

Your Spirit can wander or reincarnate back to another human life form. Whatever you choose to do, there are many lessons to be learned.

However, this is just my point of view. All other points of view are respected. We each have a different Journey. In a materialistic Earth bound point of view, the Atheists are correct, you Die and that's it. But what happens after, is your own personal experience, your Soul will soar into Space. Creation will welcome you back Home.

Love will surround you.

Peace to the World.

"After-Life"? No. What happens is the Spirit of a person is seperated from the body. That is a rough definition of physical death. No nobody, upon death, will ever come back as another person or a different kind of creature. Every person upon their own death will be found either righteous or unrighteous and will be judged as such. The righteous will inherit Heaven as their eternal home. The unrighteous will find themselves in a place called Hell (Hades) for all of eternity and face an unimaginable horror and unending torture. There is no such thing as a wandering spirit. A spirit either goes to Heaven or it goes to Hell.

There is an after-life. Depending on how you live this life will determine the quality of the after-life.

You will not be reincarnated as a different lifeform. We're here, in the physical temporal realm as human beings for a one-time only deal.

As far as wandering spirits go, I suppose souls in hell can be considered wandering. They are alone, isolated from God, and every other soul in hell - for all eternity.

The upside is that souls can spend eternity in the presence of God, and all those who are with Him in heaven. You would be in good company in heaven.

I believe in the after life. For as long as I can remember I have always believed in the Ten Commandments. I also believe that we have been given a chance to prove ourselves here on earth. How we choose to live our life's I totally up to us. I believe that if we break one of the commandments not matter which one....we failed....spiritually......& when we die we will be judged.....then sent back with no memory of being here before. Our soul will be re-born & again & again untill we learn our karmic lesson which is not to break any of the Ten Commandments. Then when we die....will be allowed to rise up to a higher plane of existence....some know it as Heaven....or Paradise. That goes for everyone. I also believe that when people die in a freak accident.....& they were not ready to leave this earthly plane....that they come back in spirit form & wonder around trying to figure out what happened & why & when they can accept that they are dead only then can they move on & accept their fate of what is to come. That's why houses get haunted by spirits. They don't want to leave because they were not ready to die. They have unfinished business. I know a lot of people do not believe in the after life....nor in spirits/ghosts....you will just have to learn the hard way I guess. Peace

Actually people often believe that after death
either people get reincarneted or
if some wish of the person whos dying is left to get completed before their death their souls wander as ghousts.
If not any of the above the souls are taken to either heaven or hell according to their virtues and sins
Actually this question is beyond the capacity of a normal human IQ.....so if you really want an answer...you just either have to wait until your death or try to communicate to God

Very frankly, no one knows the answer to this question. Various religions preach various answers, but the truth is, no one knows. They may think they know, but they really don't. No one knows for sure.

We may, if we comply with certain rules, go to the paradise that is called Heaven. If we don't comply, we may go to the suffering of Hell. What form we will take when this happens is unknown, because we have never taken a photo of a "soul."

On the other hand, we may step into an Alternate Universe, one that is coinciding with our own, but invisible to the eye and silent to the ear.

Or, we may dissolve into that vacuum of nothingness, with no more importance than a dead bloom on a fading flower.

The irony is, no one ever has a chance to return to earthly existence to say "I told you so!" No one ever has a chance to say, "I was right and you were wrong!"

So we each must believe what we choose to believe and follow a selected path. By paying close attention to THIS life, we may earn Brownie Points for the next. If it doesn't, at least we've tried!

I have been fortunate to be shown over 300 past lives that I have lived. Not all were in human form on earth but none were as animal either. I was never aimlessly wandering, always had a purpose and all lives are linked and connected as if a new life is really just a new day.

Yes, there is an after-life. It's either heaven or hell. No, we don't come back as someone or something else and our spirits don't wander. It's really pretty cut and dry.

No body who has died has returned so far as such the authentic account of what happens after death exactly is not known to any living person.Amost all the religions point out the life after death.Islam propounds that this life is a preparation of soul to be able to conduct itself in the next life;as such the life immediately after death is an inspection/accountability phase to make the deffects and incapabilities good to participate effectively in the phase of eternal life.Hinduism propounds an unending period of accountability till the soul has suffered for its wrongdoings and then is brought to total consumation;during this period human soul shall appear back in this world as creature of lower status to really suffer for its wrong doings. This hypothesis of relatively unending or a very prolonged period of suffering does not appear to be rational in view of the smaller period of wrongdoings and relatively larger period may be stretched to millions of years of getting exoneration. The christainity adopted another extreme course by considering that all sins of Adam and his offsprings were written off simply with the crucification of Christ at the hands of Jews that time.Reason, Ratioanlity, Knowledge and Reveletion may be reffered to for detailed discussion.
