It has been my experience that most Christians do not have experiences that are supernatural. Most have not seen a dramatic healing or a demon exercised. Yet the bible seems to teach that these experiences are to be very common for Christians.

John 14:12
I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Mark 16:
15He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; … they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."

If you ware a Christian and have never seen that kind of stuff, why do you think that is the case?

let me clarify, i am well aware of the constitution, and the treaty of tripoli. and do not agree that america is indeed a christian nation. but for thoes that claim that it is so.

If America is a Christian Nation. and one of the 10 commandments of the Christian religion is "thou shalt not STEAL" how do you reconcile the fact that America is built on land stolen from it's previous inhabitants?

you say that you are still jewish because you keep kosher, honour the holy days and the sabbath, and all that jazz, you just believe that jesus is G-d.

so are you saying that if i believe zeus is G-d, or apollo or aphrodite or krishna or teotithuacan or even george bush is G-d, and i make statues of them and pray to them and build holy buildings in their name, then as long as i don't eat ham or carry a pencil on shabbat then i'm still practicing authentic judaism?

this seems to be the prevailing messianic argument. "we're still jews because we keep the law." what defines judaism then? is it G-d, or is it the commandments? apparently to you folk G-d really has nothing to do with judaism, and the deity is interchangeable as long as there's no bacon on the breakfast table.

"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." -Gandhi

Why is it that there are so many Christians out there nowadays that give Christianity SUCH a bad name? I mean, I know we're all not perfect, but I'm a Christian and it always upsets me SO MUCH to see people out there, ignorant people, making the most absurd claims to defend Christianity, claims that aren't even scientifically warrented, and attack others and judge so liberally....
I just mean, there are so many proofs out there for Christianity, but with so many ignorant Christians with short tempers, how are you going to show a world starved for love and moral principles what it means to truly be a Christian when you're getting aggressive and overly technical, overanalyzing every iota of the Bible and whether it's literal, whether it's not??
IMO, JUST LIVE A GOOD FREAKIN LIFE & LET LIVE.

i'm an atheist, but i'm willing to admit it's possible that god exists. i don't think it's very likely, but it's still possible. but how many of you are willing to admit that what you believe might be wrong? if you are 100% sure that your beliefs are correct, then you really can't call yourself open minded. i'm honestly not expecting any of the christians who answer to admit that there's a chance there might not be a god, but by all means, please prove me wrong. just write, "i'm a christian, but i admit that it's possible that there might not be any god".

As I am becoming aware of the things in my life and how they either hinder or enhance me I noticed my friends. I realized that they are not helping themselves or me with their habits or way of thinking. I was once in that place as well, but now I see that is not where I want to be and that I want to continue growing and making positive changes. When looking at ways to progress I didn't pay attention to the people I had around me and their affect. Now that I have I see that these are not the friends to have. Is this wrong to think this way? If not, how do I distance myself from these people with out harming them? I feel as though I have an obligation and by moving away it will bring more attention instead of less. What should I do? Please share your opinions with me. Thank You

In almost near panic, I said three hallelujahs to Jesus, and prepared to call her sister.

But what could she do? She lives clear in Oklahoma. When I do call, I have resolved to affect a voice of someone who is choking in the cellar, so as to ellicit attention.

I think it's really shocking how a religious belief can dictate someone's way of life. Is it Christians who are wasting their time? Or is it Atheists who don't realise the shortness of time?
Someone has to be wrong.

I want to know what people think:

A woman is good all her life. She is a nurse, she is a member of many charities, she works with the homeless and she spends her sparetime helping deaf children. She lives a long life helping others and never herself. She dies in a fire when saving two children, and donates her organs and her body for transplant and medical research.

But she is an atheist.

If there is a divine power, does this woman go to Heaven?
