Christianity claims that if you believe in Jesus, you are saved and a grand place awiats you in the 'next life'.
Most of the developed countries which are predominantly Christian engage in quality entertainment, which in the eyes of their religion is sin... from strippers to adultery to pre-marital sex.
(I don't mind all of that but hey, I am not Christian)
Isn't Christianity a license to "sin"?

2 Samuel 10:18
And David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen.

AND

1 Chronicles 19:18
David slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen.
-----
That had to be a typo.

Book of the Dead: "I have done away sin for thee and not acted fraudulently or deceitfully. I have not belittled God. I have not inflicted pain or caused another to weep. I have not murdered or given such an order. I have not used false balances or scales. I have not purloined (held back) the offerings to the gods. I have not stolen. I have not uttered lies or curses."

The Book of the Dead was written circa 1800 BCE. It is estimated that the Hebrew Exodus from Egypt and the provision of the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai occurred in 1491 BCE., some three centuries later.

That's all just a coincidence, I hope?

Come on people! Can you stop relying on what society and your neighbor says and read the darn stuff for yourselves? I am so disappointed by the so called "educated community", when you've never even really taken the time to study the fricken book! Can you stand on your own two feet and research this for yourselves?

It is so hard for us to understand that we are ALL right with God right now because of the price Christ paid for us, if we just realize this! He made such a sacrifice for us, and the world hates Him for it still. Every religion is still trying to find a way to be right with God, through works. As if we have something to do with it. A free gift of grace comes along, and everyone still wants to work their way into (heaven, paradise, better existence, call it what you want), and the whole world rejects it like a plague. GOD IS LOVE!!!

According to you, religion is the source of all evil and breeds a lack of tolerance for others, among numerous things. So please explain how atheism is any better, because you are always ridiculing, mocking, and insulting the religious members of Yahoo Answers to such an extent that it's hard to understand how atheism breeds any more tolerance than religion does. The atheists here are so filled with contempt and hatred, and yet is'nt that just what they accuse religion of?It seems to me that if the atheists took over the world tommorow they would immediately launch jihad(religious warfare)on the world to exterminate all the ''evil'' deists out there. If not, then please explain to me how statements(thinly diguised as ''questions'')like the following are going to instill tolerance, harmony, and brotherly love in future generations. Is this tolerance?

Yes, I know, you're going to say we are not. Suspend disbelief for a moment and allow me to make my point. What if all the Christians you knew were very nice, charming, polite, laid back, easy going wonderful people that were simply a joy to be around.

Would that honestly have any effect WHATSOEVER on your choice to believe in God or to not believe in Him?

Thank you for your thoughtful answers.

In a Christian context:

I'd heard from some Christian minister, that God speaks along the wavelength of peace. I also remember some verses confirming that, just not very good with the chapters offhand.

If this is true, would this be a gauge when dealing with any thought? So by converse deduction, any thought that brings strife, confusion and anger must originate from the devil and / or the flesh?

I realize you may not think about it. I realize that you may think it impossible. I also realize that you may have a scripture that puts your mind at ease with regards to this. However, this is a theoretical question. The given: he sent you to hell. Now I just want to know your reaction.

I think I have an explanation for this concept, it's quite simple.
Since people at that time thought the earth was flat, they must have had believed in an upper floor and a lower floor. The sky to them was the upper floor. Since rain, clouds, rainbows all come from the sky, they concluded that Heaven was full of waterfalls, coolness, greeness and beauty.

Now where does the Hell concept come from? Why is it a place full of Fire? I think it has to do with Volcanoes.
People saw lavas and fire coming from below the earth. They witnessed floods, earthquakes and saw the earth cracks. So they assumed that whatever was under the earth, was EVIL and destructive. They named it Hell, and assimilated it with Fire.

Since our ancestors knew little about science, they resorted to a metaphysical explanation such as Heaven and Hell. And that concept was quite satisfactory to them. The concept is sitll alive.

Do you agree with my analogy?

Anyone heard about this Syrian Christian woman called Myrna? During the ecstasies when she sees Jesus and Mary,
she exudes oil from her hands, feet, neck, forehead,
100% Pure Olive Oil. It evaporates very quickly and does not stain clothes. Read the story on this site.
