Some people claim to hear voices & will sometimes act on what the voices tell them to do. Psychological study has shown various reasons why someone might hear voices & think these voices are really some outside being speaking to them.

It is way too common for a person to committ a crime (usually violent) & claim they were following orders of the voices: The devil made me do it, Jesus told me to do it, God wanted me to do it, My dead aunt spoke to me & told me to do it.

It doesn't matter so much who they think the voices are. What is more important is that they are acting upon what they hear from these voices. Too many of these actions based on mysterious voices have been violent or illegal actions. We lock these people up after.

Should we ignore the fact that many Christians & other theists claim to hear the voice of their god telling them to do things? We know from experience that the voices sometimes ask for crimes. Why wait? Why not lock them up for the safety of all?

This may sound stupid but I thought religion was catholic, lutheran, babtist, jehova's witness all of the different denominations. Because in my Bible it doesn't really mention anything much about religion. It says follow Jesus but it didn't say his religion. Help me w/ this!!

I'm a Christian. I believe that Christ died for my sins. I also believe if you do not accept Christ as Lord and Savior, you will die in your sins. The only way to have eternal life is through Christ. So if I truely believe this, why is telling this to my children brainwashing? If I tell my children don't run out into traffic, a car can kill you, no one would call this brainwashing. I told my children don't take candy from strangers. Was that brainwashing? If I thought something could save my children's lives, and I ignored telling them about it, what does that make me?
I not only taught my children about God, but I brought them to church and Sunday school every week. They grew up with a love for Jesus, and I know they are going to spend an eternity with Him.
I could have done what some here have said, but then my children would have the security of living forever with Christ.
Is it brainwashing to want to save your children? Is it brainwashing to want to give them the best?

1-I mean, scientists have contributed to this world more than anyone else. They found cures for illnesses and done good for humanity. However, 99% support of them support Evolution, and reject Creationism.
2-Do all Christians believe in Creationism? Is it sinful to believe in Evolution?

I'm an atheist, and I believe what I do because after years of questioning, I've come to my own conclusions about what I belive about the origins of the universe and the earth and everything on it, based on what makes sense to ME. But in today's world, if there were no "Christianity," for example, with its churches and preachers and centuries of influence, would people be able to pick up the Bible and honestly say, "Yes! This makes perfect sense to me! Of course, this explains everything," and from then on live as Christians, accepting Jesus as their lord and saviour and all that? Or is it necessary to have that establishment there to explain it?

If I remember correctly, the book of Revelation was almost not included in the bible when they were deciding which books were apocryphal. How would the modern world be different if there were no book of Revelation?

I have a strong Christian belief.

I had 3 mircles performed in my life. I was born in the early 1960's before medical advances, so please answer accordingly.

I was an RH baby. I was alergic to my own blood. The doctors said that a transfusion would not save me, that I had to have my blood completely evacuated and replaced by someone else's blood. The procedure was too risky and I was too weak. They were going to let me die. On the third day, to doctors went to work expecting a dead baby instead, I was fine. I was cured. No medison and no percedures were given to me. I was the second in history to survive this.

I was 14 when I was in an accident where a haywagon with 42 people on it ran over me toe to shoulder both wheels. I heard my back and neck break. I was paralized on the scene and in the hospital for 2 hours. I walked out of the hospital 3 hours later. I had a broken jaw, sternum and other injuries but no signs of the breaks on the neck or back.

That husband is correctly diagnosed with everything wrong with him--could be more than 1 diagnoses by how he acts like different mentally ill people & that they put him on the right meds. He is on Gabapentin now; I do not know if it is the right 1 for him, as they have not diagnosed him yet, they just gave it to him.
I think he has not told them why he is really there (abuses me & need to find out why). He is getting a 4 hour test done Wed.
He has only thrown 1 fit, just after he started taking Gabapentin & still drinking on it. Don't know if he does other now... He works long hours.
He has mood swings, Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde personalities, anger, irritability, fast thinking, said he talk to historical dead people in head, sometimes crazy talk
& many other things
Please pray he does not harm himself or me (again).
Please pray that he does not fool them, that they see through his lies, manipulations, excuses, masks, & facades.
He has tricked different people (professional[s]) before

I've read Luther was married to a nun and had no child.

But, when I ask our church priest, he answered that way...

Is that true or just a hoax?

I heard that Buddhism isn't necessarily a religion, but more of a philosophy on a way of life. This means that they really don't talk about a "God" like other religions do. So are Buddhists agnostic or atheists?

As a non-orthodox Jew can I use this question to also ivite the Jews for Jesus a.k.a. Shbabtists to go away? I've heard of some ridiculous things in my time, but Jews for Jesus. I know lots of Christians and lots of Jews- we get on, but you cannot be a Jewish Christian, just like you cannot be a Labour Tory MP!!!! Why can't people leave Judaism alone? We always have to answer for ourselves and we are always the butt of the joke. When we are not being thrown in ovens we are being accused of trying to dominate the world!!!! Can anyone explain to me just where these nuts, the Jews for Jesus came from? Next thing they'll be telling us it's okay to eat bacon sandwiches on shabbat, Jews for Pork!!!! Oy vey!
