People give money to the church because of a misconception about tithing. The churches teach that we should give 10% of our income to them...of course, that's not what the bible says.

Tithing comes from the OT and was required of Jews...in the form of 10% of their crops and livestock. The tithes were then put in a storehouse for distribution to the poor.

The only time actual money was given was in a case where transporting the tithe would cause undue hardship, in which case the crops and livestock could be sold and the money given instead.

The reason people are asked to give money today is because the preacher has to make the payment on his new BMW and a certain amount is sent to the church headquarters so they can pay for their BMWs.

This may sound strange coming from a Christian but the churches are corrupt. They're more interested in money and power than your soul.

There are exceptions however. I know of a church that never asks for tithes or takes up a collection for a "building fund". They do ask for donations of food which is then given to those in need. In addition, the congregation is asked to donate their time to help the community and the church. Also, the pastor of that church works a full-time job and does not collect a salary from the church. Such churches are rare though.

Tithing is only mentioned twice in the NT:

Mat 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

and

Luk 11:42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Money is NOT the root of all evil, we have to get the scriptures correct, THE (LOVE) of money is the root of all evil, not the money, but the root, & why do we give to the church, That is our duty to pay our tithes. So the church can keep the lights on & so on.

The Bible says that the LOVE of money is the root of all evil, not money itself. We are called to tithe. The church is a nonprofit organization, and couldn't stay up and running without monetary gifts from the congregation.

Money is only the root of all evil when it is someone elses money. Not when it is the churches. The church needs the money to build more churches. Whenever a church is built, God builds another home in heaven for us to live when we die. Christians who do not donate to the Church will be homeless when they get to heaven. The more you donate the better home you will have.

You give money to the church because you're gullible, and evil does not have a single cause. If it did, it wouldn't be money (or the love of money) since people did horrible things before money was invented. Inequality is probably as close as you're likely to get to the root of all evil.

((((The LOVE of)))))
Dint give it to the churches they've got more than you can shack a stick at

1 Tim6:10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains.

First of all, there are two different places to store wealth which one has accumulated. Second, there are two different kinds of wealth. Forbes measures the kind of wealth we accumulate here on earth. Money, shares of stock, real estate, homes, cars, and boats are just a few of the things that are worldly wealth. Any physical item someone owns that has a monetary value is part of that person’s wealth. Jesus points out two things that commonly happen to our worldly wealth. It deteriorates over time unless we properly maintain it or it gets stolen.

The second place to store up wealth is in heaven. True contentment, peace in the midst of pain, love so deep that you can't fathom it.... this is the kind of wealth given by God. Any wealth you accumulate with God will never deteriorate (and therefore does not require constant maintenance) and it cannot be stolen. And the worldly wealth you accumulate during your life does not count toward your wealth in heaven. As Solomon pointed out, when you die you will not be able to take your money, shares of stock, cars, etc with you. Heavenly wealth is very different from worldly wealth.

As Solomon also noted, you came into this world with nothing and you will leave it with nothing. So what kind of wealth do you want to accumulate during your life here on earth, worldly or heavenly?

Money cannot be evil, it has no brain, no mind, no action, it is just pieces of paper, or coins, these cannot be evil, but loving the money can make people evil.
