Desmothene. Did you actually read my question? I said 99% of scientists believe in Evolution. And I cited my source. I'm not stating that scientists are the only ones to contribute to society, but they are one the best.

If they are *real* scientists, they *know* that there is absolutely no scientific support or basis for "Evolution" *or* "evolution"! They may not be listened to if they state the truth, and their Government funding may be cut; but anyone who has studied the structure of even a simple living cell, is fully aware that it could not possibly evolved.

I seriously doubt that 99% of them support evolution; they are just too involved with their profession to bother entering into the PC fray! Darwin, himself, said if the "Missing Link" was not found soon, his *theory* would have to be radically revised! Last I heard, they were *still* looking! It would surprise me *more* that *any* biologist who understand *anything* about the complexity of a living cell or a living organism, doesn't marvel at God's Creation!

The requirements for salvation are clearly spelled out in the Bible: "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believes in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 (NIV)

No...all Christians do not believe that evolution is sinful. The Pope has said that the theory of evolution is not at odds with God's plan or with God's creation.

So...just believing that evolution can be true is not a one way ticket to hell.

Evolution = The observation that life changes over time.

no more, no less.

It does not address nor care about the origin of life.
It does not address nor care about the origin of Earth.
It does not address nor care about about the origin of the universe.
It does not address nor care about gods or creators.

It is simply the observation that life changes over time. It is observed, documented, and proven true time and time again. Any other argument you apply to it is merely you being deceived by your clergyman.

Do you want to know why they deceive you? It is because they, for whatever reason, want the earth to be 6,000 years old. Nowhere in the Bible does it say this. Even genesis says a minute to god is like a thousand years to us... giving a reasonable explanation for the 7 day creation to god being billions of years of Man's time.
Yet, as the churches, and most vehemently the baptists, demand a 6,000 year old earth, the time line shown in evolution, cosmology, and geology denies them their non-biblical age of the earth.
Instead of trying to prove their position (because they know it to be false) they enlist the uneducated masses of their church to wage war for them. A few snippets of false information and you are quite willing to strap that bomb on and sacrifice yourself to make noise among those more educated than you.

Please, go educate yourself and see just how far astray your 'moral' leaders have lead you. Creationism and Evolution are fully compatible. There is no conflict. At all. None.

And were there no scientists who were also devout believers contributing to any of science and medicine's discoveries?

Or were all the scientists atheists?

Alot of other non-science people did alot of good for humanity as well, but I guess they were motivated by things other than ego, fame, and wealth, so their contributions count for nothing.

That is certainly the ever increasing assumption and perception these kinds of questions are engendering.

It used to be sinful to believe the earth revolved around the sun. They burned people for it (Giuseppi Bruno, for one) and dragged Galileo before the Inquistion for writing the truth. Sin is defined by whoever's running the church at the time. Most scientists are smart enough to understand that religion is just mythology and don't worry about going to hell because they know there isn't one.

God says that His Word does not "return to Him void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it" (Isaiah 55:11) When Judgment begins God will no longer be taking excuses for accepting the world's teaching on evolution. The Creator is a jealous God. He created and He "hung the earth on nothing."
(Job 26:7) no axis, no orbital track and He clearly states the earth cannot be moved. The sun rises and sets, but the earth cannot be moved. It is "false" science that will bow to God.

No - there is no shame in finding science a little easier to stomach than mythology. There's nothing wrong with believing in the latter either...just don't let anyone try to tell you that you are going to fry in some enternal inferno for choosing empirical evidence over a story about some dust and a rib.

You can be a Christian biological scientist. No matter your profession, you will go to Hell if you don't do what the Bible asks you to do. It is quite simple really. Read Acts 2:38.
