i'm a convert Mormon and i'm geniuenly curious.. Why do ex-Mormons seem to have the need to have a dig at the church all the time. I see so many questions and comments from ex-Mormons in yahoo answers in that way and funny that i don't really see much of the same thing from ex-members of other religions or other Christian denominations... if they claim that they've let it go... then why cant they actually let it go?? just curious..
cheers..

no crude comments please!

I was just wondering why there are all these tv shows about space trying to tell us what a stars core is composed of also how they are born. It amazes me, all the confidence these scientist speak with as though they have been to the center of the sun.Hell we cant even get to the center of the earth. But our science books teach these theories as facts.

I've been depressed for as long as I can remember. I don't believe in God. I can't bring myself to, and everyone is telling me that is my problem. That there is a "hole in my heart." But, the truth is, I'm just incredibly worried about seeing the ones I love die. And also, (and probably selfishly) I'm incredibly scared of dying myself.

I can't deal with death, and I think about it all the time. I often can't sleep because I'm so frightened.

I wish i could find some sort of spirituality, but I'm at a dead end right now. My life seems quite pointless, and music helps, but my life still feels empty. I don't know what to do with myself. The thoughts run my life, and I feel as if there is no point in living, if there is no afterlife. I'm so lost and confused. My mother won't let me see a therapist because she thinks they often do more harm than good, so I didn't know where else to turn. Any words of advice or encouragement? Will I get over this phase? It's starting to run my life.

So someone sked a smiliar question, but i didnt really see any answers that satisfied me. So, one thing I hear Christians say a lot is that "God has a plan for us," but I remember a bible story about how God gave humans free will. How can to two coexist in the same reality? If we have free will, shouldnt we also have the power over our own destiny? But that would imply not even God can control where we end up.

The slander he heaped upon Ryan White, the teenage hemophiliac who became the first person to contract AIDS from a blood transfusion, that poor girl he raped? How many countless people suffered because of him lobbying against AIDS research, claiming it was a punishment from God for sinning? People on here are saying he was a human being--I challenge you to prove it! A monster has died, a beast with less compassion than the average wolverine--let the world rejoice!

Don't you realise that first you Have to believe in God (Jesus) before he will reveal Himself to you.

If you want the proof of his existance first you have to believe.

There are only hearsays. No one has ever been able to give any personal experience. A person is reborn and that is also not sure. Perhaps death means an end, total darkness. Nothing more nothing less. Any takers?

At questions about 'why God gave us the ability to do evil?', the answer is always free will. It seems God gave us the ability to make choices, and without 'evil' we'd be robots.

Now, how do you know this to be true? I fail to see that. Before the whole forbidden fruit incident, were Adam and Eve robots without the ability to think?

But more importantly, how can you know there are not a million different emotions out there, that God didn't create us with? Sure, we can do good, and love and be friendly or be mean or hate, etc, etc. But how can you know God gave us all the emotions that exist?

If God gave us 500 different emotions, how can you be sure that the 'list of emotions' God had to choose from during Creation, wasn't much longer?

I was dating this girl for like 2 years. Well her parents were staunch Chrsitians. After two years of dating her parents really liked me. They were even wondering when I was going to ask her to marry their daughter. They wanted me to ask her to marry their daughter. Well my girlfriend had no problem that I was an atheist. She didn't care one bit. Well she decided to tell her parents that I was an atheist and instantly her parents hated me and wanted me out of their daughters life. Her dad told me that he was in the NRA and would do whatever he had to do to get rid of me. Well needless to say the relationship is over cause I don't feel like getting killed over a girl. You Christians sicken me. What ever happened to though shall not kill and love your neighbor??????

Why create Satan? Why not just give us free will to choose what we want to do in our lifetimes without anyone being hurt? Debate is one thing. Tragedy and horror are another. There are certainly an infinite amount of choices we can make that will make us happy throughout our lifetimes. Since we cannot be and do all of them our free will will extend until the end of our lifetimes. Why throw the awful stuff in? I could never consider anyone a God who puts us all into such terrible situations or creates some being (Satan) to do so.

I am an atheist, which shouldn't matter in the least.

Please give me a real answer; NOT one that completely avoids the reality of the question itself. Thank you.

Jerry Falwell passed on today and although I feel for anyone who loses someone close, I have a hard time losing any sleep over him.

Falwell was anything but a Christian by definition. This man had so much hate in his heart and was the first to point fingers and be judgemental.

He was a bigot, homophobe, arrogant and self-righteous - not the qualities that define a "christian".

Now don't get me wrong, I am no theologian myself, but I know a hypocrite when I see one.

for ourselves as well as mankind? Why throw the nukes in there. I wouldn't feel like a programmed robot if I had the "free will" to make choices about my journey that didn't involve maiming, killing and emotionally damaging others. I wouldn't feel like a programmed robot treating people humanely and being treated the same in return.

Why all the nukes and drugs... oh, wait, that's Satan right? If God was so powerful he could have never created Satan. Satan wasn't created to give us "free will". Other than the fact that he's a fairy tale, like his creator, he could only have been existent to make God happy. Why would God want to be unhappy? And why does happiness include murder, genocide and abuse?

Free will, nothing. If God was any kind of God he would have given us the free will to make the choices we wanted to in our lifetimes, all of them ways to make us happy and content with ourselves and eachother.

Atheism is a religion in the same way NOT stamp collecting is a hobby.
WHY?
1. There Is No God
Atheists do not believe in a god or gods. This is a tautology, of course, since the term "atheism" itself carries that literal meaning.
2. There Is No Common Belief-An atheist is someone who does not believe in god. Period. Beyond that, it is for you yo believe.
3.There Are No Laws-Most religions feature a set of laws or regulations, ranging from what not to eat for breakfast to who thou shalt and shalt not kill and or covet. In atheism, this is entirely lacking.
4.There Is No Church or Ritual-None
5. There Is No Unified Conception of Spirituality
6. There Is No Scripture
Christianity has the Bible, Islam the Koran; Judaism has the Torah, Hinduism the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita. Atheism has no scripture or sacred text. Darwin's Origin of the Species, while held in high regard by many atheists, doesn't count.
7. There Is No Priesthood 8. There Is No Founder

I am curious how many christians out there do spiritual warfare? I mean really praying against the devil. Or have we become comfortable in our churchs. The devil is out there and it is so scary that christians are afraid to rebuke and bind those evil forces at work.. rebuke them.. Bind the strongman in the heavens cut it cords,, God has given his angels charge over us, NO harm will become us,, We have authority in Jesus name..We have to stand up againt the enemy himself,, these non believers on here are just pawns of the devil they do not know any better.. We have to fight the spiritual war that is going on..
I see alot of praying even in my church but no one really goes deep into battling the Devil.
Greater is he that is in me then he that is in the world..
Come on christians wake up from your slumber.
