I was just wondering why there are all these tv shows about space trying to tell us what a stars core is composed of also how they are born. It amazes me, all the confidence these scientist speak with as though they have been to the center of the sun.Hell we cant even get to the center of the earth. But our science books teach these theories as facts.

LET ME STATE THIS AGAIN!!! IS IT ALRIGHT FOR US TO TEACH OUR CHILDREN THEORIES YET ACT AS THOUGH THEY ARE FACTS.OR SHOULD WE TEACH THEM THEORIES TO INSPIRE THEM TO PROVE THEM RIGHT OR WRONG. ARE WE NOT CLOSING THAT PATH? A CHILDS BRAIN CAN LEARN FASTER THAN AN ADULTS. SO WHY IS IT THAT WE WAIT TIL THEY ARE OLDER TO TELL THEM OH, YEAH MOST OF THE CRAP YOU LEARNED IN SCHOOL COULD BE WRONG!!!!

I dont know how to respond to this.
On the one hand your correct and on the other your completely wrong and foolish.
Your right man knows very little of the Universe, but we are continuously learning. When we find out something we thought was wrong we correct that.
but if we only studied what we knew we would never grow. That is why scientist develop theories and test them and refine and redefine them.
Oh so that's your question.
First off in certain realms of science their are few things that are facts but many things that are theories and their is a big difference between a scientific theory and a hypothesis.
but without going into the details I dont ever remember being taught that a particular theory, or a fact for that matter, was irrefutable or set in stone.
I was taught that this is what we know and think is correct today, tomorrow we might find more evidence to support this or evidence to refute this.

You need to research a bit more to find out why. There are techniques by using various frequencies of light to figure out the elements composed of planets and stars. It gets a little more advanced than what I have posted here but it is really fascinating. Most of us realize we do not know it all, but we are at least making an attempt to figure out the universe around us.

It's simple. All of these things are based on mathematical models, using observed data and the known laws of physics, which apply throughout all space and time. If a star's spectrum contains a sodium-D line, the star contains sodium. Not maybe contains sodium, or could contain sodium -- it contains sodium. End of story.

cuz we always think we know everything, it's human nature, and the rest of us are dumb enough to go along with what they tell us, and what's our reasoning for believing? "because everyone else does! so it must be true!" lol Einstein disproved Darwin and I'm sure that someday some one else will disprove something else that we believe to be a truth right now. I guess that's just the way it is...

we think we know it all because we think.. We have a need to answer what we don't know.. to we think about it and try the best we can to answer the questions that are out there. And yes quite often we are wrong.. but what's good about it is quite often we are also right.

hhhmmm, Good idea, Bob.
We should just give up trying to find stuff out about stuff. Just give up and listen to you, right Bob?
you seem really smart, i bet we learn a whole bunch from you.
who's with me?
