Falwell was an Evangelical christian minister who is known world over for his often inflammatory comments made at inappropriate times. He's been quoted blaming 911 on everything from pagans to gays. Same with Aids. Most people think he was a nutter (you'll definitely notice my POV in past remarks about him) and most write him off as an extremest who made the rest of Christianity look bad.
The few who do accept him vary wildly from Evangelicals to conservatives of varing flavors.
