According to you,religion is the source of all evil and breeds a lack of tolerance for others,among numerous things.So please explain how atheism is any better,because you are always ridiculing,mocking,and insulting the religious members of Yahoo Answers to such an extent that it's hard to understand how atheism breeds any more tolerance than religion does.The atheists here are so filled with contempt and hatred,and yet is'nt that just what they accuse religion of?It seems to me that if the atheists took over the world tommorow they would immediately launch jihad(religious warfare)on the world to exterminate all the ''evil'' deists out there.If not,then please explain to me how statements(thinly diguised as ''questions'')like the following are going to instill tolerance,harmony,and brotherly love in future generations.Is this tolerance?

I don't believe that religion is the source of all evil, but that evil things have been done in the name of religion. It's small difference I'll warrant, but a significant one. For example, your bible says, "thou shalt not kill" and yet christians have killed others. Justify it any way you want, they still killed.

I would say a lot of intollerance exists on both sides of this issue where theists dislike atheists for the same reasons atheists dislike theists. So really, you and the rest of your ilk are no different than those people you claim to be filled with contempt and hatred.

Honestly, I think you need to do a little more growing and take a long critical look at yourself.

Funny, this question looks like a "statement (thinly diguised as a ''question'')". But that's ok.

I think if atheism 'took over the world', we would finally have real freedom of religion. That's actually what most atheists want. True, real freedom of religion. Not one god favoritized over the other, just everybody free to believe whatever they want. As long as it doesn't affect others, because that's what freedom is: it ends where other people's freedom starts.

This "question" is nothing more than another "tolerate the intolerant please" statement. Which is just silly.

A homosexual who has nothing wrong, is discriminated by Christianity. That's a simple human fact. If I stand up against that discrimination, you can really call me intolerant how much you want, I don't care. I refuse to tolerate the intolerant.

Should laws be more tolerant against the intolerant too? Police officers? Judges? Rules? How far do you want that to go?

Tolerate the intolerant, it's such a theist statement, and it sickens me. Puh-leeese.

Atheism is the lack of belief in any gods. I didn't invent fairy tales and called them 'religion'. I never did that. Others did. I simply chose not to believe in them. Many others also chose not to believe in them. That doesn't make us atheists a club. That would be the same as calling people who don't collect stamps a group. The Astampists.

That having said, there are, of course, also atheists that are jerks. I don't even feel the need to deny that. However, some of the questions you quoted there, are very fair questions. It would indeed be fair, if the 10 commandments are printed on a courthouse, to also hang all the commandments of all the other religions there. That IS what freedom of religion is, whether you like it or not.

I am an Athiest. I am smart, I am intelligent, and I know right from wrong. Just because I am Athiest doesn't mean that I automatically assume that religion is the source of all evil and breeds a lack of tolerance.

I do not believe that religion is the source of all evil. I know that it brings happiness and security into the lives of those who believe. Although I am an Athiest, I am not filled with such hatred and contempt towards those who do practice for it is their choice to do so.

I do not accuse religion of being built on hate and contempt, and I think you are wrong in stating (of course...thinly disguised as a question) that all Athiests are the same in nature.

I , as a nonbeliever feel honored when a christian or Muslim etc.says he/she will pray for me! but there are a lot of ppl here who think , that because I feel and think the way I do , it makes me a lesser person! I think not!!!!!!!! when there is an intolerance of an Atheist towards a religious person it stems more then likely from some threat or comment regarding how disgusting we are! it is based on generalization as most of us have met more intolerant and degrading religious folks! we do not go around and hate and degrade others! BUT WE WILL DEFEND OUR SELVES AGAINST THOSE WHO HAVE NO CLUE OF BEING RESPECTFUL! and further more , your statement of the "Atheists HERE are filled with contempt" is an assumption and generalization as well!

I don't think you know the opinion of atheist.
I don't see atheist insulting other religious people in these groups. Asking questions about something is not insulting others!
Why should an atheist be filled with hate? As I read your message I feel also a lot of hate and grief to the atheist people.
I think it is more you conception of the atheist people that what they realy say and do. Than you can ask yourself: why do I feel so moved by atheist? What is the reason for that?
But let the atheist be good atheist...
Let the christians be good christians...
Let the Muslims be good muslims...
Let the Buddhist be good buddhist....

We're all human beings. We all try to achieve happiness. We're all the same. U believe in God and Satan, i believe in Good and Evil (positive and negative energies).
So it's too generalizing to say atheists would launch a jihad against believers.
Christians are the ones who are talking about a jihad against non-believers.

Bull. You apparently can't tell the difference between saying that religion should be removed from power and saying that religious people should be killed.

I don't think it's a case of Athiests mocking Christians or vice versa. Mocking is just a human failing. It Christians, Athiests, or whoever didn't mock people for the reasons they did then they would simply find other reasons....
