People think it's fiction because they're afraid of everything that's contained with in the book. They would rather believe they can handle everything life throws at us without any outside help. Also, lots of people would rather do what they want to do without some book putting constraints on their actions. Rather than accepting the Truth of the Bible, these people do whatever they can to "prove" that it's fiction.

We believe the bible is fiction for many reasons. One, the bible contradicts iself many, many times. Examples: there are three creation tales, all slightly different. Which one is true? There are also 5 instances of a man named Goliath being killed. There is NO historical evidence of the Exodus outside the bible. It seems very unlikely that the Egyptians would have absolutely no record of losing a third of their population, especially given that we have so many records of their history.
The list goes on and on. Read your bible carefully and you will begin to see.

The Bible is a book of myths, written by sensory deprived goat herders several thousand years ago, when very little was understood about the way things work. Its first story is either blatantly false, or god likes to trick us.
There are contradictions. There are absurdities. There are stories of horrible, bloody war and torture advocated by god. There are historical inaccuracies. It's not a great book to live your life by, but if you really want to, be my guest.

maybe because the first story in it IS. and the last one probably is. so anything inbetween is a judgement call. As to why he was so passionate about Jews never being in Egypt, maybe he's an anti-semite, maybe he just doesn't like the Bible, if you are a christian you shouldn't be fighting though, naughty boy.

The first story in the bible claims that snakes talk. There has been only one other book that claims that.....Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone. I think both are fiction.
