I am not trying to start a debate. I am just curious.

She is an incredibly strong Catholic. She seems to know so much, I look up to her- she knows the "Catholic point of view" without ever questioning it.

She seems to be at peace with her time period she has left (1-2 months). Though in pain, she seems to smile about her faith. She's being as strong as she can be, jokes when she can...

I'm in the process of writing her a letter - because her family doesn't want her to have any visitors anymore. I want my letter to have some focus, some basis....and I'm hoping for some Catholic inspiration. Is there a particular Saint I could pray to...a particular saint or Catholic tradition that I can include in my final letter to my Aunt?

Much thanks in advance!

...is not the same as an educated guess, simple conjecture, or an opinion.

I see far to many people denying the theory of evolution because they actually believe "theory" is synonymous with "theoretical". But in the context of a "scientific theory", It's not.

A scientific theory is an accepted and logical explanation for the workings of the natural world that is founded on observation. Scientific theories are based on empirical evidence and must have the potential to be falsified.

Now a hypothesis on the other hand, could be considered somewhat theoretical as it has yet to be proven through observation and no means of falsification has been offered.

The theory of evolution is not a hypothesis.

If creationists and ID proponents want to try and shoot down the theory of evolution, good luck to them. But they 1st need to understand the difference between a hypothesis, a scientific theory, and "theory" as it is used outside of scientific context.

I would like to start this question with one big WTF???? I am not christian but, why do christians claim that jesus was their savior and that he could do all these crazy things, but then when anyone pops up on TV claiming to be Jesus, and i have seen some people who can do some pretty tight **** IE: (one guy made UFO's appear) you claim they are insane and need to be sent to an asylum. Is it because of you're own insecuritys involving Jesus? Do you even believe in him? How would you know if one day the real Jesus came back one day, and he happened to be an alchoholic (Jesus happened to prefer wine over water), and a pimp (all the ladies love jesus)? Just a question

Why is that? Why bother asking if you won't accept the answer? Isn't that like flogging a dead horse to you? Isn't it best to agree to disagree? You can’t make us stop believing in God!!. Why, because we have faith in God!. We are on here to spread the seeds of God and his word. It seems you are on here to degrade God and his word.
Why don’t you open your hearts and mind to the possibility of Almighty God.

If Christians do not believe in Jesus then they go to hell.

If Muslims and Jews believe in Jesus then they go to hell.

Since they all come from the base religion Judaism, which means that it is basically based upon the same God, then how do you know which one is right, and which one to follow, so that you do not go to hell?

May the Mercy of God be with you all.

First off all i am Yoruba, Yoruba is a large ethnic group not a faith or religion. Calling somebody Yoruba is like calling somebody American, Indian or Chinese. The British use to be called Anglo Saxons before being unified in to a kingdom. A Yoruba could be Muslim or Christian or other. Actually most are either Muslim or Christian 50/50, very few practice voodoo even though is originated in the tribes between Benin and Nigeria. actually when compare to other countries or tribes Nigerians(Yoruba) practice it the least. Nigeria is one of the most religious countries in the world and voodoo is not well tolerated. just wanted to clear that up, it is very offensive to say do you practice Yoruba. thank

Its called taking on the cross or mortification. A man has his friends crucify him so he can get closer to the feelings Jesus had. Sometimes naked or else with clothes. I think they also flog themselves. Does this happen? Does it work?

See my brotha worshipped the devil. He gained incredible strength from worshipping the devil. He was once 100 pounds then he got up to 200 pounds or raw muscle and he lifted a lot. how can you explain that? He conquered all his competition in the gym, no steriods, just hatred and anger powered into his workout. I think he's hatred gave him more of a push to work out, not just for size but for dominance. that was more of a motivation than everyone else there. So I think Satan granted him great power.

I, even I, am Jehovah; and beside me there is no savior.
(1 Timothy 2:3)
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;

For I am Jehovah thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Savior.

and they are so un-caring to others as I have found, they
are just so busy worrying about how other people
live their lives, and so concerned about other people and
their sins
And yet they look beyond their own sins and concerns
and religious people have a bad and nasty attitude
towards other people in this world you are not welcome in
our church is all they say and practice with hatred and bigotry
in their hearts
Yes they are so cold hearted and very judgmental and cruel

no matter how much we debate, or try to "prove" one way or the other, believers will continue to believe and non-believers will continue to not believe. what's the point?

until unquestionable, undeniable evidence comes to support the existance or non-existance of a god, then all we are going to do is argue and make each other angry.

...The old man was not frightened. He was perfectly calm. In a weak and broken voice he said: "Mr. Preacher, I suppose you noticed my farm. My wife and I came here more than fifty years ago. We were just married. It was a forest then and the land was covered with stones. I cut down the trees, burned the logs, picked up the stones and laid the walls. My wife spun and wove and worked every moment. We raised and educated our children -- denied ourselves. During all these years my wife never had a good dress, or a decent bonnet. I never had a good suit of clothes. We lived on the plainest food. Our hands, our bodies are deformed by toil. We never had a vacation. We loved each other and the children. That is the only luxury we ever had. Now I am about to die and you ask me if I am prepared. Mr. Preacher, I have no fear of the future, no terror of any other world. There may be such a place as hell -- but if there is, you never can make me believe that it's any worse than old Vermont...
