I would like to start this question with one big WTF???? I am not christian but, why do christians claim that jesus was their savior and that he could do all these crazy things, but then when anyone pops up on TV claiming to be Jesus, and i have seen some people who can do some pretty tight **** IE: (one guy made UFO's appear) you claim they are insane and need to be sent to an asylum. Is it because of you're own insecuritys involving Jesus? Do you even believe in him? How would you know if one day the real Jesus came back one day, and he happened to be an alchoholic (Jesus happened to prefer wine over water), and a pimp (all the ladies love jesus)? Just a question

I laugh at your very dumb inadequate question because I know you in person Daniel and you dont even know the first thing to Christianity because you probly never have once picked up a Bible or ready any true holy scripture. You are just making false judgements on what you were taught or what you have herd that appear not to be true at all. So i suggest reading up a little more before you make anymore false statements or ask anymore questions about a religion you dont evenknow about.

Daniel: my question was actually an experiment
Daniel: which im gonna right about in my favorite answer
Daniel: on
Daniel: how many people would actually speak
Daniel: about what they believe
Daniel: rather than
Daniel: quote the bible
Daniel: which has been mistranslated 100's of times
Daniel: you would not be able to tell

Proves yet again he has no idea what he is talking about...or what he has read...
You shouldnt be "experimenting" with false information and serious topic such as this.

I will try to answer this (in part.) I don't believe that Jesus would return as a pimp or alcoholic because, unlike humans, He doesn't have a predisposition to sin since He is essentially God. While Jesus associated with prostitutes and greedy tax collectors, He believed those people needed to hear the gospel just as much as those who seemed "better." Since there is only ONE Jesus, I would be skeptical if a lot of people claimed to be Him surfaced. Maybe they are insane, maybe they're not. I do know that whatever power doesn't come from God, comes from Satan. So while these people are able to do "crazy things," i.e. what seems to be miracles, it doesn't mean they are holy. When Moses went to Egypt to remove the Jews from slavery, Egyptians, in attempt to showcase their power, turned sticks/canes into snakes. The power of God was with Moses, but the others still had the capacity for inexplicable things.
Although my faith isn't perfect because I am human, NOT because I believe in a faulty God, I am not insecure about Jesus. I wouldn't necessarily believe in someone proclaiming on the street corner or television to be Jesus because it isn't exactly biblical, and God doesn't contradict Himself.

Matthew 24:23-27
23 “Then if anyone says to YOU, ‘Look! Here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will give great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones. 25 Look! I have forewarned YOU. 26 Therefore, if people say to YOU, ‘Look! He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; ‘Look! He is in the inner chambers,’ do not believe it. 27 For just as the lightning comes out of eastern parts and shines over to western parts, so the presence of the Son of man will be.

We were given signs of Jesus presence though...

Matthew 24:3-14
... “Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?”

4 And in answer Jesus said to them: “Look out that nobody misleads YOU; 5 for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. 6 YOU are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that YOU are not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet.

7 “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. 8 All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.

9 “Then people will deliver YOU up to tribulation and will kill YOU, and YOU will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name. 10 Then, also, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and mislead many; 12 and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off. 13 But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. 14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

You are right.

If you are a reform christian, than many still consider the words of Paul of Tarsus equal, if not greater than Jesus.

The proof of this is found in just how many quote the Old Testament in Yahoo Answers.

If you are a Catholic, then you worship a man who claims to be infallible since the end of the 19th Century- A god. A supremely heretical position whereby The Pope is above all human law, all human beings.

It is sad really that Jesus- the very person so many claim to follow, is really no more than a brand.

For if these people truly believed in Jesus, they would act with the kind of compassion and wisdom he demonstrated. They would cease cursing and spitting hatred. They would help end corruption in the churches.

Because the one Jesus Christ prophesied in the Bible has already happened.
If you can find scriptural and also the genealogy of some nut in an asylum of being the Jesus Christ then I would be interested. First he would have to be from the line of King David so also be Jewish and would have to be arrested and sacrificed in accordance to the biblical prophesy and has to be born immaculately with no genetic father to a virgin mother (won't find too many of those around)
Being as nobody is going to sacrifice some poor old guy but rather put him in a padded cell for his own welfare we can be sure 100% he will ever be the Messiah.

But above all your question is incredibly dumb.

daniel: Take note ... one day a religious figure will appear on this earth performing miracle after miracle - even, calling fire down from heaven (sky). But do not be taken in by this. Miracles are not a proof of a man from God. Holiness is - Godly holiness. Satan will cause wonders to be done in a person of his choosing prior to the return of Christ to this earth. Satan hates Christ and what He stands for. Jesus promoted and demonstrated love to both, God, the Father and to others. You notice when Jesus did miracles in the Bible, He told the recipients of those miraculous healings NOT to tell people about them. If you want to really know the real Jesus Christ, ask him to reveal Himself to you in the pages of the Holy Bible. Remember; Jesus said himself, "Many will come in my name saying, I'm the Christ" - you can't afford to be sucked in by false "Christs".

I think that the real God would not do something so... I can't think of the word. God wouldn't feel the need to prove himself to us, and he wouldn't do something so... frivolous. I can't imagine the God that I pray to at Church on Sunday and in Catholic school would do something so silly. Of course I believe in Jesus! What a stupid question... No, actually, you have a very good point. It would seem that way. At 13 years old, I don't know all these answers, but we talked about this topic in Religion. Its a good question, so thank you for raising it!

Christ warned us that there would be many people who came and pretended they were him. As for miracles, Satan asked Jesus to perform miracles for him, but Jesus rebuked him. Besides, there is a pretty big difference between optical illisions and bring someone back from the dead. lol. On the other hand, Charles Manson belived he was jesus, and would you really want him walking the streets again.

daniel, You make some good points. It seems a lot of people calling themselves christians only "heard" of Jesus and at best were baptized with water, without imbibing any more of his teachings, letting his "seed" of baptism in spirit dry up and become dormant. Never fulfilling the law, remaining "sinners".You will know them, they proudly announce "yes, i'm a sinner". Denying Christ in themselves.

Because when Jesus comes the trumpets will blow. ALL people will hear the trumpets. That is a pretty big indication that he is here. Every one in the world will hear.

I said the whole world will hear and for those who don't believe will probably want to run and hide because it would be judgement day.
