Would you prefer someone that comes to church on sunday morning, sunday evening, and wednesday night; and they last about 3 years or would you prefer someone that only comes sunday morning but they last about 25 years.

My answer would depend on other things that you haven't mentioned.

Is the person saved? My first concern is that the person accepts Jesus as Lord, Savior, and GOD.

The next concern is growth. Attending Bible studies and small groups can help growth.

The next concern is volunteerism and ministry. In this case I would rather have the more involved person for 3 years rather than a Sunday-morning-only person for 25 years. I'm sorry, but our church has a mission- the evangelizing the world!

After three years of ministry and mentoring, I would send off the person with my blessing to be mentored by another pastor. I'm only a man, not GOD. I can train and mentor ministers, but it's good for a person to have different mentors along the way. They can learn more and be more balanced.

There might be a very good reason the person that came for three years and was on fire left. God has grand designs in the lives of people and what we consider backslidding someotimes God is very happy with.

Some people learn a lot from God when they are not going to church.

Someone coming for 25 years may be as dry as dried wood ready to light. They could be like furntiture.

Hope this helps

PS I am not a pastor

Sunday morning worship is not 'for the church' but between God and each person. I would prefer that they 'last' as a Christian for the rest of their lives, and if that means they cannot worship God, I would like to discuss it with them... sunday morning (or any other nite/day) is not an obligation but a time when we can truly worship together our God and Saviour

That would depend on the plan of God for their lives, not the plans of the pastor/minister. There is too much control in the church and very little development of the flock. The Bible instructs us to be the church not go to church.

Matthew 15
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

i actually have a question for these 'pastors' -- ummmm...we believe the Bible is the word of God, right? where is it biblical to have one-man/woman speaking?

considering you all know the Bible, im sure you're familiar with the Ephesians where Paul likens believers to Christ's Body. suppose now, i decide to do some weight lifting, but i use only my right hand, leaving the REST of my body to do nothing but watch. this hand will SURELY develop but what about the rest of my body? in the end, it looks abnormal, with one strong and well-sculpted arm accompanied by a limp, soft and unbalanced body -- there is no harmony between the right arm and the rest of the body.

likewise, don't we need ALL members to function by exercising their human spirit and offering their portion to the saints in the light? isn't such an exercise a healthy representation of who Christ is and how He is being expressed today? not with ONE member of the Body functioning but ALL members utilizing and exercising their spirit to not only praise and worship but speak their enjoyment and experiences of Christ, just as they did in Acts, from house to house with simplicity of heart?

just a question. some scriptural rather than logical answers would be good.

It's not about what the Pastors prefer, it;s your own choice how often you go to church, you are encouraged to attend to praise and worship the Lord, to fellowship with other christians , to hear the Word of God and to be encouraged by other christians if you are going through trials, as we all do.
These people are your Christian family who you should enjoy spending time with.

The 3 years. Because no one can experience God on that level and ever leave Him. So whether they are still at my church or not, they will still belong to the body of Christ. May God Bless U.

Neither ...
for neither is a true Christian, and is not among the lost sheep of Israel that Jesus has sent us out to seek!

As long as the money envelopes keep coming in, ministers don't really care.
