Emotions are the product of your God given mind's response to the stimuli of life. As such, an emotion is not a sin. In fact, some emotions, such as anger, are a gift - they let you know when you have been wronged and can give you the energy you need to do something to set it right. The problem comes in how we deal with the emotion, and whether or not we keep an eye open for the emotion leading to temptations to inappropriate actions. It's when we entertain doing the wrong thing as a result of a feeling that we enter into temptation. Entertain this with serious intent to carry it out and it becomes a sin.
1 Cor 10:13 There has no temptation siezed you except that which is common to man, and God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear, but when you are tempted, He will also provide a way of escape that you may stand up under it.
In other words, God will enable you to overcome temptation before it becomes sin if you are willing to look for it.
Some people, like me, are more emotionally prone to instability due either to temperament, or else to upbringing and hormonal state or all of the above. What you are is not a sin; it's what you DO or fail to do.
Hope this helps!
Tom

Your emotions are connected to your soul. Being emotional is not a sin are long as they are guided and under the control of the Holy Spirit. However, it your emotional are out of control that's when it becomes a sin. Anytime you are not in control of your emotional it falls under the category of "lack of self restraint" or "no self control", which is sin. One of the fruits of the Spirit is "temperance", which is self control.

How can it be a sin? If you didn't have any emotions, then you would never know what life is all about.

Depends, does your emotions 'cause' you to sin. God has emotions, we are created in His image. Without those emotions, how else would the Holy Ghost grip us and convict us to trust God? Having emotions isn't a sin, its what you do with them that can be.

It is not a sin. God made us emotional. Our emotions are an expression of our humanity. Emotions can help us to be good or bad people.
By living a virtuous life, we increase the chances that our emotions will lead us to be good people.

it depends on the emotion.
positive is good and okay. no sin.
negative is in the direction of bad. a sin.
for instance. christians are to "be angry but sin not." the sin part is to be angry to the point of offending or hurting someone else.

We're human and have emotions. The issue is that you have to learn to keep them in check. I'm not suggesting that you can control how something makes you feel initially but that you have to be smart about how you react and consider the source of the issue that causes whatever emotions it is you feel.

It wasn't in the ten commandments ....Besides if we are all the same it wouldn't make it human it would make us machines. Emotion is what gives us our character Emotion is our personality. Without it we are nothing.
