Just because I can't respond to my own question (" Why being an atheist is so badly perceived in the U.S.? " that is): as an atheist I don't name people names and I don't tell them that if they believe in God they're wrong and they deserve something bad to hapen to them. I'm from Europe and tere, people are not so agressive about this, so I just posted the question because I really have a hard time understanding Ameicans...

Yeash, so what I want to know is, why is is that many times, other religions dislike Christians. We all aren't the same (bible thumpers, scripture screamers, hypocrites, etc.)
That seems to happen to me alot when the topic of religion comes across with my friends or any aquaintances, they ask what I am and I reply "christian", and they give critisisms about majority of christians and how supposedly we all act!

They couldn't make anything but good and evil characters, couldn't come up with anything but "perfection, strength, unlimited power and knowledge" for a god. And their "hell" is just physical pain. Didn't they realize that there are worse things than physical pain? If the Bible wasa piece of modern-day literature, it would recieve tons of criticism for it's lack of depth.

I think I am gay/bisexual not really sure on that one yet, but I want to convert to a religion that best suits me. I am in the process of conversion to Catholicism, but the rules of the Church discourage me a lot. The reason I started attending the Catholic church was I work every Sunday and the Church offers a Saturday evening Mass. I am also interested in the LDS Church. There is also another church I am interested in, Community of Christ which is the RLDS Church. Could someone give me so advice as to what I should do to find my way?

it must be understood that the term Sons of God refers to the descendants of adam that were created in the image and likeness of God ultimately making adam both human and devine therefore, his children would have to also be both human and devine thereby making the sons of God not devine creatures (angels) but devine humen which are men of hue:colored men. By the way, adam just so happened to be a black man. One love,Samepimpin.

as I believe it said in the bible, god has known us from the womb, he creates us all.

So, if god created us, he gave me a mind that in no way without proof, could ever ever believe in him.

Its not a choice to me, I can say I believe. Deep down inside, I won't be able to, unless he came to me and actually proved he was god.

So, IF god was real, he would know that he created me with a mind that could never truly believe in him or his son without proof... IF god was real, he created me so I would go to hell when I died without a real choice in the matter.

IF god was real, atheists like me wouldn't exist.

I dont know how everyone else feels on the R&S site but the biggest problems I have is with my thoughts that come into my mind. I have scary thoughts that seem to "jump" into mymind when I am NOT even thinking these thoughts intetneionally or biblically speaking entertaining thoughts.

This distrurbs me being I do the best I can to walk with the Lord and follow Him.

My question is how does one handle reoccuring thoughts that are not of God and what is a good way to overcome frightening and scary thoughts?

Rev.14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. 14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 14:3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.(these were the virgins that r unto God in our time) 14:4 These are they which were not DEFILED with WOMAN; for they are virgins.(shows that the way with a women is not of God) These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. A christian goes out of their way to help someone in need, its a morally right thing to do. The christian is moral because god tells them to, they think it'll help them get closer to heaven, and they may even recruit someone else to the word of god.

An Atheist goes out of their way to help someone is need, it a morally right thing to do. An atheist doesn't do it for approval from god, they don't believe in god. An atheist doesn't believe in an afterlife, and the atheist won't try and recruit them to join in their non-belief just because they helped them out of a hard time.

Who is truly the more moral person?
