That statement, 'because the sun doesn't fall onto the earth, it shows god is real', is not representative of the christian faith. I'm a christian, and as far as I know the sun is much larger than earth (but, to be honest, I don't know for sure.. I'm just going from memory). I imagine that the person who said it was just trying to use gravity as proof of God's existance (or something).

It does.
The laws of physics are perfectly logical ... why ?
We change them when they become illogical.
I am Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Jain, Taoist and unfortunately Mohammed's word is being destroyed by his fanatic followers.
You may not be ready for this concept, but physics is just a feeble attempt at understanding the material implications of Gods' mind ... that's who you are, And His mind is also the universe around you.
"Within you and without you" ... George Harrison
How do you perceive anything including this life and universe?
With your heart and mind?
The Earth may fall into the sun someday, not the other way around ... that's just bad science in this context.
Good luck;
Jonnie
PS Just think a little deeper.

I'm a Christian and that's one of the dumbest things I've heard. We all know the sun is exactly as it is scientifically and creatively because God is all-wise and all-knowing and made it that way. Exactly far enough from the earth that we do not burn. Exactly near to the earth that we do not freeze. Praise the Lord!

Very, VERY large. Mass wise, I won't even guess except maybe six septillion (sp?)tons or something.
The earth is as big as the paper clip is to my office cubile, give or take.
In other words JUST HUGE!
The earth could only fall into the sun, not vice versa.

BIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
The sun falling into the earth would be like a swimming pool falling onto a person.
Learn to think for yourself.

BIg, really big, I mean you wo't believe just how hugely vastly mind-boglingly big it is. You might think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to the sun.

in the grander scheme of things..what that person meant (i have a hunch) is that it is not a coincidence that the universe is governed by such harmony and rythym, and order.....
the odds of that happening by chance are one in...whatever...you do the math...
if we were a hair closer to the sun..we would burn. if we were a hair farther from the sun..it would be too cold to support life.. i do not believe that is a simply "convenient"

It depends on where it shines in the sky, and my location, but proportional to my pinkie finger, it must be a lot of pinkie fingers big.

Why do you try to discourage Christians? Does it make you feel good to bring someone down with you? Misery loves company...is that it? Give up dude, God will win everytime. We win in the end, so you might as well join us!
