Yes... Attacking *any* swath of Humanity is counterproductive. OTOH, questions and disagreements are healthy for all.

And "American" is beside the point - this applies to everyone.

IMHO, I feel it pushes the one being attacked to adhere the idea or thing being attacked even more. This is my experience. I'm attacked all the time, by one person in particular. Another person was attacked as well by the same person, and instead of pushing us further from Islam as was the intention, it only pushed us closer. The one who was a nonmuslim converted today, mainly due to those attacks. It made her study it harder and find that the attacks were completely unjustified. So, to answer your question, yes, it is.

In my opinion, we can have constructive comments or questions religion because it can help religion adapt itself to be more open to stay true to the intrinsic teaching of founder and ready to accept to new concept if it is proven to expand our consciousness. Religion should make people expand his consciousness, not limit.

Mostly I think it is counterproductive..however, it can strengthen people as well and perhaps they can then face worse things that may come a lot better.

Not at all. Sometimes, people see the light and start using their brains rather than continuing to believe superstitious nonsense. (I have scored two converts in this forum -- to my considerable astonishment.) The Constitution has nothing to do with it.
