Yeash, so what I want to know is, why is is that many times, other religions dislike Christians. We all aren't the same (bible thumpers, scripture screamers, hypocrites, etc.)
That seems to happen to me alot when the topic of religion comes across with my friends or any aquaintances, they ask what I am and I reply "christian", and they give critisisms about majority of christians and how supposedly we all act!

The problem is assholes like the Westboro Baptist Church, they exhibit the attitude that many christians have towards others (non-christians), a little more radically I'll grant, but it's the same attitude none the less. Use their behavior as a reverse barometer (do everything exactly the opposite of them) and you'll have no problem with us non-believers.

Don't listen to these other people, nobody is persecuting you for your belief in jesus. We don't give a damn who you believe in. If you are receiving a bad attitude from non-christians it's because a lot of christians act like sanctimonious assholes. Quoting your bible and saying we're mad because you believe in jesus is an example of the very behavior that makes people angry in the first place. I'll say it once more, NOBODY cares who you worship, IF people are talking down to you, it's for how you behave.

Jesus said that people will not like you in the world . He said not to fear that as he has overcome the world. Many Christians have made a bad name for Christianity and it is these who have made a bad name that have led to people hating us.

It would do you well to remember that Satan hates you and is your enemy and worketh in the minds of many people. As a Christian you have the Holy Spirit as a filter in your mind to check thoughts and stop you from saying bad things if you obey the Holy Spirit.

A non Christian hasn't got the Holy Spirit to correct them so they will just speak what is on their mind and sometimes that can be very hurtful.

Be at peace and know that whilever they are putting you down and attacking your faith, that you have an opportunity to forgive and let your inner peace and fruit shine.

Don't negect to pray for those who persectue you as God shows favour on the prayers of his saints.

I am a Christian, and yeah there is a negative attitude towards Christians in my society - Christians are accused of being too moralistic, often hypocritical and always stupid and naive (not logical/rational/realistic - believing a fairy tale with no basis in truth). Of course the 'illogical' criticism of Christianity is based on atheists definition of 'logic' - therefore that criticism is biased/opinionated and not necessarily true.

I guess just telling your friends, "some people who call themselves Christians are like that, but not all of us are" could help. There is truth in the criticisms of (some) Christians and (some) churches.

I think people who criticize Christians should find some statistics to back up their generalizations/opinions - and they should focus on present failures of Christianity, not historical failures. Then I'd be totally happy to listen.

All you can do is SHOW them that you're not like the others. Be respectful of everyone's right to believe differently, and never try to push your own beliefs on others. Unfortunately, the Bible Thumpers make the others look bad.

The only thing you can do is allow people to see your godly character, and trust me, in time, their attitude towards you will change. There will still be a few who continue to criticize and judge you, but your testimony speaks volumes. It's sad that a few bad Christians spoil the whole bunch of good ones, but that's just part of the persecution that we as believers must endure. Hey, remember, people judged Jesus without even knowing Him, so you're just following in His footsteps.

There it is in the Bible that we Christians will get "tormented" here on earth. But not to worry, Christ has overcomed it. I would like to tell you as a friend that Christianity is not a religion, it's more of a committment to the Lord. Just don't listen to their criticisms, be faithful unto death and God will give you a crown of life.

Because we don't fit into their thinking. Christianity has been around along time. I has not changed as evolution has. the bible is the same yesterday, today and forever. Yes things evolve but God made those things evolve. I'm sure Ill get thumbs down but that is my opinion.

its the all men are rapists complex
all leaders are like bush , and all lawyers are criminals
its a survival mechanism
would that we were known by our love for god
by our love for each other
but some take the concept as a deed of grant
a right to offend
not by our deeds be adjudged but those who preceeded us
take the mormans , all cast with the same mould ,yet we are each one unique ,but think of the muslims we are all different yet every one is a heathen terrorist right
wrong
all heathen are as divergent as the muslims christians and jews are
even the athiests are all different yet they seem to be able to accept each other though each has a different cause of thier rejection of god
its hardly worth a poor me [poor us] compared to all the others generally classified as black heathens ,, drug addicts , sheep or even goats
we as christians should strive as christ to accept each and every person as unique
each a child of the one god
each created from the maasters hand

It develop into likely deleted because it really is not a question... let me clarify something to you: that is a non secular AND SPIRITUALITY section. in case your no longer a non secular OR non secular man or woman OR HAVE a valid question about faith OR SPIRITUALITY THEN TAKE YOUR QUESTIONS AND UN RESEARCHED information elsewhere. because the reporting equipment is nameless, you actually do not recognize that that is "Christians" deleting it. it would want to me someone who reads each and every question on Yahoo and positioned it too no longer be a question nicely worth asking.
