It's my birthday today and for all my years with the life God supposedly gave me and yet being atheist, eating shrimp, working on Sunday, and having sex before marriage why hasn't this imaginary friend ever handed it to me Old Testament style? What's he waiting for?

These verses always made me wonder about the Lord:

6 When they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled. 7 The LORD's anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act; therefore God struck him down and he died there beside the ark of God. 8 Then David was angry because the LORD's wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.

The ark was to be cared for (and carried) by the Levites alone....God made that clear in the book of Exodus. I cannot ever question the sovereign will of God but......wasn't it a natural reaction to reach out and grab something that was about to fall? Especially something as important as the ark of the covenant?

I believe any one of us would have reacted the same if we were standing the closest to it.

What are your thoughts on this?

For years (since the early '70s at least) I have used my house plants, among other things, to ground myself. They are used in order to get rid of negative energy I pick up from others in healing. I know there is no reason to explain that. This is my question:
When my house plants really need to be watered I get sick. A sore throat and cough. I've been very busy, no excuse for my plants, lately and they really get dry. Once I water them, I feel much better. Is this ......????? I don't know how to ask the question. What is, is.

A lot of denominations in Christianity are taught that the bible is the literal truth (doctrine of biblical inerrancy). However, there is a glaring inconsistency in the bible. Both Matthew (1:1-16) and Luke (3:23-38) both trace the geneology of Joseph, Jesus' father on Earth. Both of these accounts can not be true, and thereby invalidate the argument that the bible is the literal truth.

Several parts of country are reeling under a severe heat wave with the mercury touching 40 degree Celsius. Streets wear a deserted look during daytime as scorching heat is keeping people indoors. jus imagine the condition the animals outside r living in.... jus try to do ur bit nd they wud love u for it.... find some open places to keep some water for the birds especially the roof tops of ur buildings nd also if u can along with some food for the them nd also for the stray dogs... well 'm from mumbai nd u wud find pigeon nd crows almost newhere... well u can feed pigeon grains nd much to my delight crows love to munch on biscuits.... try to do ur bit, well reply to me if u hv some better ideas at "rishi_avail@yahoo.co.in"

and they taught me that not only are catholics not christians but that they are an instrument of satan and that the antichrist would come from the catholic church. Now history teaches that the books the were included in the bible were decided upon by... the catholics. So... if you get your rule book from the perverbiel enemy could you not have been decieved?

from pond scum--caused by a cosmic explosion--that created a sun just warm enough---and a planet just on the right revolution--on just the right axis---and it somehow just avoids big asteroids that smack other planets----other animals are not using cell phones--not much knowledge increase---probably were farther down in the pond scum where their brains originated from. But all of this could naturally happen anywhere, although we cant seem to find anywhere else that it did happen. But evolution is totally logical.

Okay so i have been brought up to believe that the Christian God and Allah are two different gods. This is because Muslims dont believe Jesus rose again after he was crucified. By doing so, they eliminate the foundation which Christianit stands. Do you think this is true? I dont care weather you are religious or not, just asking. I want your opinion

Empirical facts discovered by science that adds to our world view as well as the ferment of Spirituality all over the world are incontrovertable. And one can say that as much as Knoweledge, Spirituality is not only found in the domain of uneducated people. There where and still are many men and women of science, and well educated people that have very strong religious beliefs. Even the Vatican has an Astronomical Observery run by priests who are also qualified astophysists and astronomers. So religion and Science are not as incompatible as may seem. So what's the problem?

I asked earlier for everyone to imagine that EVERYONE in the world becamse Christian.
Then one person said:

"Very soon it IS going to be that way."

Do any other chrsitians agree with this garbage?
Then can you explain why the number of Atheists/Agnostics/Nonbelievers in God continues to increase?
And countires Sweden and Denmark have up to 80% of their population not believing in a god?

I think Christians will have to face it, the whole world will NEVER be Christian, and the statistics prove this.

What do you think the world would be like?
Christians would have no one to convert, no one to "save". Who would they put down to make themselves feel better?
Because I believe that Christians would HATE if everyone was Christian, one psychological reason that people believe in God is so that they can feel "higher" than non-believers and feel as if they are more special.

I'd like to hear opinions from both sides.
