people (as a genralization) get oh so defensive when the theory of evolution comes up. all scientific evidence points towards this conclusions, while as only the bible (a litle book made of paper) supports the adam and eve theory. human kind being made by the command of some guy in the sky? woman from a mans rib? just anohter example of woman inferiority? this is a changed world. you can still be a good religious person if you beleive in evolution. it doesn't take away your beleif in god if you accept the facts of science.... the bible is still filled iwht good morals, ethics, and values. its fine to be a beleiver and use the bible to lead your life, but evolution explains so much in the history of our world, while as the bible has many stories that just prompt the good things i listed above. please explain to me why the facts of science are so hard to accept? and do not tell me i need to read a bible.... i already have.

Not to sound racist, but I have always wondered. If you are going by the bible, the first people on Earth were Adam and Eve. How did black people come in to the picture.. or Chinese... Japanesse. etc.

The gf and I were having a hard time, she was struggling w/ something in her head, and I wsa getting confused and frustrated. After talking to her one morning, she said I wanted something she couldn't give me (?) despite the fact she had already given me everything I could have ever wanted from her, but then stopped w/out explaination. Anyways, driving home, already frustrated, I did say a little prayer, asked God to show me what I needed to do and for the willingness to see what I was shown. Simple enough. Not more than 2 seconds later, a squirrel ran in front of my car and I ran it over. Didn't kill the poor thing immediately, but it was a fatal injury, I am certain. I about lost it.

Assuming it was indeed a sign, the sign I asked to be shown, what should I have taken from it? I read it as, what is done is done, and I must let nature take it's course b/c I can't undo anything. Any reactions or further thoughts?

And this got the Catholic Church so UPSET they hunted down all the Muslims/Heritics and converted them by force or killed them.

Islamic scholars of Religon (Mullahs,Imams,Ulama) were also scientists since the encouraged the Muslims to look into science to see the power of God.

Muslim and Jewish scholars along with some Heretic Christians or "enlightened" scientists created a "JEWEL" in Europe.

Science, Mathematics,Astronomy, Philosphy etc. were discussed and studied with all three faiths living in harmony and peaceful coexistance.

This islamic attitude to science, mathematics and learning was so foreign in Europe that it was considered heresy and blasphemy.

The Church was so fanatically against free thought and scientific research that they blamed the Renaissance on Islam.

In revenge for undermining the awesome power of the Church (and planting a seed for Europe to emerge out of the Dark Ages) ,the Pope killed or baptised by force all the Muslims (and Jews) in Spain.

Then the Pope and Church along with loyal Kngs started the Crusades to make sure Islam would not reach any further into Europe with their "heretical views".

The Islamic view of One God, no original sin, and the belief that there should be NO Religious hierarchy and NO organized church was a total slap in the face of Christiandom.

-----------

“The Renaissance of Europe did not take place in the 15th century. Rather it began when Europe learned from the culture of the Arabs. The cradle of European awakening is not Italy. It is the Muslim Spain.” (Robert Briffault, The Making Of Mankind)

“The Christian World came to wage crusades against Muslims but eventually knelt before them to gain knowledge. They were spellbound to see that Muslims were owners of a culture that was far superior to their own. The Dark Ages of Europe were illuminated by nothing but the beacon of Muslim Civilization.” (F.J.C Hearushaw, The Science of History.)

“The greatest crimes, the greatest “sin” of Mohammed in the eyes of Christian West is that he did not allow himself to be slaughtered, to be “crucified” by his enemies. He only defended himself, his family and his followers; and finally vanquished his enemies. Mohammed’s success is the Christians’ gall of disappointment… He did not believe in any vicarious sacrifices for the sins of others.” (Edward Gibbon, Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.)

Only the atheists have the intellectual honesty to acknowledge these Islamic accomplishments :

Who here ACTUALLY lives by the word of God?
What i mean is.....the Bible tells you that you should love your neighbour....ie love everyone no matter who they are.
So if this is how a TRUE Christian is ment to be then WHY do some Christians hate those that are differnet to them, for example, gays, other religions etc.
Why does hurtful and nasty words come from their mouths at us, condemming us to Hell and all that.

Is there really such thing these days as a TRUE Christain?

Christians pray for the world to end. They worship a celibate Hanged God. They're 99% atheist because they think all religions are fake except for theirs. They're judgmental and elitist. They wish eternal torment upon all who don't join them. Christianity is basically a death cult. Why don't more Goths see this and want to join? Priest and nuns wear lots of black. If pain, limitation, and being oppressed by an angry Authority in the sky turns you on, it could be a nice way to avoid working a real job.

My 14 yr. old neighbor was confirmed last week in church. His mother is having a BBQ/picnic in celebration and we were invited. My question is, is this a gift-giving occasion? I don't want to show up empty-handed if it is, and I don't want to bring a gift if it isn't. If it is a gift-giving occasion, what would be appropriate?

After all, perpetual motion machines are impossible. Yet people still try and convince others that they are real, and even sell them to the gullible and the greedy.
Same thing goes for god. Such a being is impossible. Yet people continually try to convince others that it is real. And sell the gullible and the stupid "afterlife insurance" (what else do you call tithing anyway?)
Impossible machine = impossible sky-pixie.
Yep, that about covers it.

Because the way I see it, either God told one of the writers it was His word, or it was a collective belief by all the writers for it to truly be the inspired word of God. Regardless, if a writer was told it was in fact God's word, has anyone else been spoken to by God since then? If it is a collective belief (on the assumption that it is indeed an inspired collection) why is it impossible to have inspired writings today, i.e. adding to the Bible?

All I'm saying is, the argument that the Bible is divinely inspired, and we know this because the Bible says so, epitomizes the idea of a circular argument.
