why didn't jesus use his superpowers to prevent his crucifixion? let's look at all the things he could do. he could raise the dead, he could walk on water, he could turn water into wine, and he apparently he was god too, which means he could do anything, heck he could probably even fly around the earth real fast like superman. so why didn't he do any of that? think about it. just before he was captured he could have made it rain, but in stead of rain he could have made wine fall from the sky. so as everyone is drinking up all the wine falling, jesus and his pals make an escape.

I couldn't believe what I heard, let a sex offender into their congregation. Is it just be or does that sound totally absurd. Why would they let somebody in their church to preach the bible if they are registered as a sex offender and are likely to take advantage of all the young girls and boys if they get the opportunity. What is this world coming to, we have a problem with a lot of priest today, we don't need to knowledgeably add anymore to the churchers, do you agree?

I have a friend, he's fun, cool, and a great guy. I like him a lot, as a friend, and I want to help him find God. I know some of you aren't christians, but I really would like to find out the best way to approach this situation. Any one who would like to answer seriously, please do so. I'm in dire need of some assistance.

Thanks for the answers,
Kendra

I cant grasp the concept of why God would need to impregnate a mortal woman in order for Him to come to earth incarnate.... Didnt God create Adam and Eve out of dirt? If thats the case, why not just fashion Jesus out of dirt?? Instead, God thought it was more appropriate to have an extra-marital affair with a married woman?!?!

What gives? Was this just an excuse to shag with Mary??

How could one conclude God existed without appealing to faith?

I noticed in another posted question that a lot of the countries where athiesm is growing, the prevailing political climate is left wing quasi communist. Have the dope smoking burnout hippie pinkos from the 60's (who now run our schools, justice system and entertainment industries) ensnared poor souls with their evil trap?

Also, if you have your child "Dedicated", do you choose Godparents? I belong to an Evangelical Christian church. I have been waiting for an answer from my pastor but he apparently is very busy. Thank you!

Do you thinks Christians should engage in serious dialogue with each other? Do you think that Christians should emphasize what they have in common (like the Creed and New Testament) and respectfully discuss disagreements? Should Christians try to understand what other groups and religions actually teach? What about the same for non Christian religions and philosophies? Can people who disagree work together for things they think are worthwhile?

Leaving aside the question of the literal factual nature, or lack thereof of the story of the Ark, and assuming it is an allegory, parable, fable or tale intended to impart a lesson about God's will, what exactly is the theme or message of this tale??

That God's kind of a dick, and someday might just decide to wipe out everyone except one dude and the puppies and the kitties and the horsies? That God's a pretty poor judge of character (check out Noah's less than stellar character after the flood subsides)? That God likes animals better than people?

What lesson are we supposed to learn from the story?

For once, it's a serious question folks. I've been told that's the rationale behind not eating shellfish, but I could be mistaken. But anyway the liver filters toxins so if that is the logic, then you would think Jews aren't allowed to eat liver but I've never heard that before.

Why do people want to go to heaven and paradise and be with God- but at the same time, they are scared of death?

Okay here's the hypothetical situation: God has come to you, and it's undeniable that it's God, not Satan, or an acid trip, God true and true. God says "You will have my complete forgiveness for any of your actions for the next 24 hours." What would you do? And this wouldn't be a test either, God assures you that you could kill, rape, eat bacon, it's all good.

Every action that a human makes is for selfish reasons. Even if we do a good deed, like help an old lady cross the street, its because it makes US feel better about ourselves. We have children to ensure our genes will pass on. Martyrs give their lives to ensure their entrance into heaven, etc.

So, with the theory that everything is done with an ulterior motive, what is the ulterior motive for being a devout believer? What is the dangling carrot that makes you go to church? Do people only subscribe to their chosen religion to ensure that they will be "taken care of" after death?

obviously, you cut and paste...but, where do you find what verse you are looking for so quickly at your fingertips...even if you know where the verse is found...say Galatians 3:28...Is there an online Bible that you keep up at attention and then "draw swords" cut and paste and post?

Serious question...I am impressed by those than can post pages of scripture in a relative matter of minutes, and it can at least vaguely have something to do with the subject matter being questioned.

A Friend of mine went into a mormon church cause he wanted to pray, and they stopped him at the door and said, "we don't take you type here, go back to alabama, boy." Why are they so racist?
