BTW, I didn't ask this question. This was asked by a friend who accidentally logged into my account. I don't think it's a serious question. It's just trying to point out the absurdity of calling Mary the "Mother of God", which is a concept adopted from paganism.

Very good. Obviously she would have to if she gave birth to God. Take it further...

Mary changed God's diapers. She breast-fed God. She told God what to do. She spanked God's behind. She made God go to bed.

Mary did not give birth to God. She gave birth to the son of God, Jesus, whose life force was transferred to Mary's womb.

As the story goes- Mary is the mother of Jesus, not God.
God came in Mary, the Virgin, and conceived Jesus through the immaculate conception. There are no stories about whether or not Mary came. Joseph was just a heck of a guy for agreeing to be Jesus's stepdad.
I think that's what The Big Bang was all about! lol
It amazes me to read how little people actually know about this- it's CCD 101!

God came first.

Mary = Mother of Jesus Christ

See Link:

Since Mary is Jesus’ mother, it must be concluded that she is also the Mother of God: If Mary is the mother of Jesus, and if Jesus is God, then Mary is the Mother of God. There is no way out of this logical syllogism, the valid form of which has been recognized by classical logicians since before the time of Christ.

I believe in the Godhead:
One being = Holy Spirit
One Being = Son of God
One being = God the Father

See second link

Hope that helps

Of course, God came first. In fact, he has always been in existence. (Ps. 90:2) Mary is not the mother of God. She was the mother of God's Son. The Bible says that as clear as day. When announcing Jesus' upcoming birth to Mary, did the angel Gabriel tell her that she would be giving birth to God? No. At Luke 1:32, 35, he told her: "and, look! you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and you are to call his name Jesus. This one will be great and will be called Son of the Most High. Holy spirit will come upon you, and power of the Most High will overshadow you. For that reason also what is born will be called holy, God’s Son."

So, Mary was going to give birth to God's Son, not to God. So the expression "mother of God" is wrong.

Mary is Jesus Christ mother. Jehovah God does not have a mother. Jesus is not God. Jesus said he cannot do anything without the Father in the heaven. Mary is the mother, Jesus Christ the son, Jehovah is Jesus Christ Father and Joseph is the stepfather.

We can never compare God and Mary...because God is God who is eternal, who is not bound in time, while Mary was human like us,that is a special woman who was chosen by God to be the instrument when He revealed Himself to humanity, when He emptied "kenosis" Himself, becoming like us, in the person of Jesus

You’ve gotten 51 answers now and it took me a while to decide wether or not I should add mine. Well,…

You probably have a very different interpretation of John chapter 1 (although I don’t know yours I think I can maybe guess…)

“John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

The Christian understanding of these verses is that Jesus Christ is the Word. He was in the beginning, he was with God and he was (and still is) God. Does this understanding create 3 different Gods? No, it just shows that the One God is threefold in Himself. When Jesus was born, He was “made flesh”. He existed long before Mary. The title “Mother of God” tastes of paganism and I agree with you that there is lot of paganism in what that which bears the name of Christianity. That’s why the reformation was a very much needed reform!

But I clearly set a different level concerning what belongs to paganism and what belongs to Christianity. I believe in the blood of Jesus Christ, which can cleanse us if we believe that He died for our sins and are willing to repent about them.

Timothy for example did not have a pagan background (see 2 Timothy 3:15,”And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”) Neither did Paul. Yet it was Paul who wrote in Hebrews, “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.” (Hebrew 9:22)

If you are really interested in God’s thoughts on worship of the “Queen of heaven”, I’d recommend Jeremiah chapter 44 (if you have a Bible).

Mary is NOT the mother of God. Mary is the mother of JESUS. God only sent Jesus to join us in this world in human form.
