I hate to put this one to a vote, but there's really no way to choose a best answer when you're dealing with personal experiences about this. Thanks everyone.

I could not have prayed harder for my mother. Then one morning, with a phone call, my world was lost. She was in her early 50s.

Perhaps children are taught an incorrect idea, that is, that God is merely some 'Santa Claus' in the sky, wainting to grant their wishes, or to deny.

Perhaps God is just a little more complicated than this idea we feed to children.

I am 48 years old and I figured out a long time ago that God does answer prayer- not the way that we choose sometimes or maybe most of the time- however He answers, and in prayer I have learned that it aligns us to His will- which is a HUGE part of prayer, that most people do not want to look at. Prayer is not a magic wand to wave in the face of God- but should be a humble heart coming to seek the face of God and His will for ourselves and the things we pray for. PRAYER DOES NOT NECESSARILY CHANGE THINGS, PRAYER CHANGES US.

I am currently in my 50's and am still getting all my prayers answers. Maybe you need to learn a little more about what prayer is? I am sure there are some good churches around you that can help.

God answers my prayers. I am probably older than most on here. The key is knowing what and how to pray.

Thousands die each day in the third world of poverty and disease and many of them prayed fervently for God's help. Western Christians will still tell you that God answers prayers though because they can live their comfortable materialistic lifestyles. People with imagination don't believe in a benevolent God.

God answers prayers...it might not be the answer you were looking for though. You can't ask God for a pony and things like that...but He does answer prayers

My transition period was four years of agony and terror.

However, I generally give the age 19 as when the process started, and by 23, well... I'd long since stopped going to church and no longer believed at all.

I was six. I prayed alot to see if God would save my uncle from cancer, but he died a slow death anyways. Any other thing I prayed for didn't happen and I got no sign of his existence or if he even knew I existed.
