It's my birthday today and for all my years with the life God supposedly gave me and yet being atheist, eating shrimp, working on Sunday, and having sex before marriage why hasn't this imaginary friend ever handed it to me Old Testament style? What's he waiting for?

:P

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
He will don't worry, God has no time. What has seemed like "all your years" seems like mere seconds to God. He will when he's good and ready. God does things on his time not yours.

Give him a break. Its not easy being the lone imaginary Smiter you know.

So many people to smite. So little time. He's already working 24/6 you know.

And since you're so obviously trolling for a smiting, he's probably put you to the back of the queue just to annoy you.

Don't forget its Arsenal v Chelsea on Sunday, so there's 22 people working on a Sunday far more in need of a smiting than you. Drogba first please.

God has loftier missions to accomplish, like endowing me with all kind of blessings: looks, wits, sexual prowess, women, money, fulfilling job, connections in high places, good humor and a condescending spirit that leads me to say to you happy birthday. God doesn't have the time -nor the will- to squeeze your guts out yet. At least this is what he's just telling me over his steamy cup of richly caffeinated coffee.

God doesn't smite people.
God gives you free will.
You don't walk down the street and see people engaging in open sin and blowing up, or a great plague comming down from a mountain causing you to die.

He lets you live your life, learn, make mistakes and learn some more. You have the rest of your life to make choices of who you are, what you believe in, and how you treat people.
If you die without knowing God then you won't be in "the book of life".
You get what you pay for. You go through life "free" and you invest nothing, then nothing is what you get when you die.

Because that is not the way God works. In the Old Testament God was shaping a people to be His people. He wanted them to be set apart as an example to other people of the world. He was also preparing the way for Jesus to come into the world. Once Jesus came and fulfilled the law, the mission was fulfilled.

Because Dear, since Jesus it's not about the Old Testament anymore but the New Testament and his one commandment is to love one another as he's loved us.

Because of his grace. God is giving you a space of time to repent. One day your time will run out.

Don't tempt God. Remarks like this can bring judgment on you shortly. Repent or bare the wrath to come.
