It should. With the greatest respect to all those who may like to claim that such acts of child abuse are "isolated", history tells a different story.

For example, there is significant evidence that child abuse amongst church leaders has been a known feature of senior Catholic activity and even amongst the Popes for hundreds of years.
See the Almanac of Evil and just have a scan at the middle ages for numerous historically verifiable examples
See:

This in now way reflects on any person who claims themselves to be a Catholic or a christian. It has nothing to do with a good person, who follows these sects as their faith. However, it does matter when such good people feel they must mark down answers that speak the truth, that they must defend such evil.

No it wouldn't because there is sexual, and child abuse in every faith/religion. If I was part of the group called "The family" and there was doctrine on how to have sex with a two year old then yes, but with all religions there are evil people.

The church of england should be ashamed of itself. Yet again, they have ignored the plight of these poor children being sexually abused and turned a blind eye telling authorities that the problem has been dealt with. I am not a christian - I do not have a religion. I find the christian lot to be rather hypocritical - brushing such a serious matter under the carpet - hang your heads in shame - where was your god when those children were begging for help?

It should no matter if you're a person of faith or not. Any one who harms a child just should be beaten severely 3x a day 24/7. And if one sexually molests a child, by all means- hand me the .357 and I will certainly cure all that ails them. God may forgive them, but He'd have to do it quickly.

Well, it doesn't offend my faith at all. I am a protestant of sorts, and it's not a personal issue to me so, no problem there. Nothing on this Earth has been substantial enough to "question my faith" per se. That's a big deal... having my faith questioned by myself. It honestly hasn't happened since I've been saved. Now, I may question certain dogmas and heresies that come from Christian theologians, but that has no effect on my faith in Jesus Christ. God Bless!

No, it doesn't. Just as child abuse cases in other religious camps different to my own or in groups of people that profess no religion at all don't prompt me to brand them as less benign or godly than my own. Child abusers must be denounced, brought to justice and duly prosecuted regardless of their personal beliefs or disbeliefs, and child abuse must be prevented and in this point the media, the advertising industry, Hollywood, the tabloids industry, they are more responsible for the damage done to our kids than any religious body.

If it were only going on in churches...then it would most surely cause me to question my faith....but it is wide spread....those in religious positions should be judged harder than those not....but what gets lost here is how many non-religious people perform the same acts...yes it gets reported but not to the extent that the church figure head wo

No!
People who lived in Israel who should be God's people committing some really bad crimes (sins) and yet the nation of Israel remained the people of God they didn't turn away and say that I can't believe in God anymore. You will have deserters from the faith who will commit serious sins and that should only reaffirm the fact that the end is near and these are perilous times.

Well, it sure makes me question that homosexuality is normal since almost every priest that was a pedophile was gay. Since the number of gay people in the population is so small how do you explain so many gay pedophiles? Seem to me there is a disproportionate number of pedophiles among homosexual males as compared to heterosexual males.

Are gay pedophiles creating new gay pedophiles among their victims? Is it possible that the upsurge in homosexuality is being caused by child molestation? If you are a young boy and your first sexual experience is with a gay man are you more likely to grow up to be straight, gay or bi-sexual?
