Ok- there are gay people. Why does that bother you? If they're going to hell, how is that your problem?

I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous. If homosexuals fighting just to be treated equally or just living their lives openly is forcing their "agenda" on you, then Christians are guilty of the same thing on a massive scale. Why is we someone gay chooses not to live in the closet that they are accused of forcing something on people? Simply not true. I have yet to see the first homosexual show up at my door and demand I be one of them or wonder why I'm not.....I CANNOT make the same claim about Christians!

My input on this is that the nation has forsaken all of its

christian principles that were placed here by our forefathers. If they

could see that the morals of our country have been almost

destroyed, they would roll over in their graves. This country was

based on christian principles and now they have been taken out of

our schools where the the name of Jesus can't be said, they are

trying to take in god we trust off our money and we can't even sing

christian songs of praise in schools during christmas. So tell me if

you think God will bless this country, if the goverment removes all of

the christian heritage from our nation and outlaw it, like they are

doing with the ten commandments? Please give your opinions.

I like both the English Standard Version (ESV) and the New American Standard Version (NASB). I like these translations because they are very literal translations of the Bible. I prefer the literal translations over the more dynamic translations (NIV) or paraphrases (New Living Bible, The Message) for two reasons. First, I believe the very words of the Bible are divinely inspired. Thus, I want the very words translated. Second, the dynamic translations and paraphrases tend to interpret things that might be more ambiguous in the Greek and Hebrew. I would prefer that translators leave the ambiguity and allow the reader to interpret the text.

I do think that the NASB tends to be a bit more literal. However, it is at times so literal that it sounds somewhat wooden. The ESV seems to have captured more of a balance. I think these translators have captured the literal sense of the text and the asthetic beauty of the text in a way that has not been done since the King James Version.

Now that they have a man who has sex with another man which is not within the bounds of a biblical marriage relationship what do they teach in their youth groups and Sunday School classes? How do they define what is moral? How can they say it is wong to have sex outside marriage between a man and a woman? How can they tell boys and girls it is wrong to have sex before marriage? Since they do not use the Bible as their basis for morals what do they use? Why do they call themselves Christians, since a Chrstian is defined by the Bible?

There was a group of people walking in the desert, near death, suddenly when hope seemed lost they happened upon a young man walking,
they said, "young man, do you know the way out of this desert?" To which the young man replied yes, and I will show you the way to an oasis

Relieved the group followed the man for days.
on the 15th day they stopped and said, "you lied to us, it has been fifteen days and we have not seen anything but our own footracks now we will die for sure."
The young man responds, "Trust me we are close."
They look out into seemingly endless dessert in disgust, then turn and kill the man out of anger and start off the way they came. They all died in the heat of the dessert. but the oasis was just over one more hill.

do you also get this transformers-like mental image where the Father, Son and Holy Ghost merge to combine Mecha-Christinator? Or is that just a result of watching too much TV when I was younger?

To ask for forgiveness when they die. Althought some even in his presence will still choose damnation, they will get another chance. Do anybody believe this too, or is it in the Bible somewhere?

I laugh at people when they say they are Christians and I tell them Jesus never existed because no credible proof of him existed outside of the Bible. I also laugh at how they believe in God. There is no magical man in a magical place in the sky. It's impossible a force that strong exists. Believing in God is like believing in Santa and believing the Bible is true is like believing Harry Potter is true.

After all, the Messiah is a Jewish concept, and he was supposed to be a priest and/or king who was NOT a deity.

The former assumption is not what Jesus claimed to be, and the latter assumption violates current Christian doctrine.

the previous question regarding Jesus and unconditional love had me thinking....

I know someone who is very depressed
they are not happy with things in their life
their partner asked them to think about things in their life
and if they wished to leave and stay elsewhere , then so be it
she would rather see him happy and enjoying life elsewhere , than unhappy at home married to her .....

isnt this unconditional love ?
when we put others before ourself and want what is best for them ?
even if the best for them is being elsewhere ?

I am very fond of the Gospel of Mark probably because I have spent more time studying it than any other biblical book. I love Romans because of the way Paul so clearly explicates the Christian doctrine of salvation. I also like Isaiah because of the eschatological promises it gives to Israel who is at that time in a very dire situation.

Jesus said someone will be sent after him -- he will leave so the Final Prophet or “Comforter” can come.

"But now I go my way to Him that sent me and none of you asketh me, 'Wither goest thou?' But because I have said these things unto you sorrow hath filled your heart. Nevertheless, I tell you the truth, for if I go not away, the [Last Prophet/Comforter] will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and approve righteousness and judgement" ----- John 16:5-8
