Knowing the addictive nature of caffeine...why do churches serve coffee and pepsi at church gatherings, etc...thereby, enticing their members to begin an addiction?

From 1 Corinthians 3:16-17: 16"Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? 17If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple."

By this scripture...isn't gluttony a sin? smoking? not exercising?

Are people who are unhealthy because of inactivity going to be destroyed by God as this verse states?

There are a lot of people who ask stupid q's just for shocks, knocking all of the people with genuine R&S based questions off the front pages. Why is this happening, why aren't the people who think they are funny in the Joke section of something?

There are people who care less about R&S who come into the R&S section unsulting the people who are actually R&S! I know R&S people may question others, but that's one of the reasons the section is here!

I am now of the opinion that Hell is not somewhere you go afetr death but it is in fact a state of existence which some of us experience here on Earth. I am convinced of this due to the appauling nature of my own terrible plight. And in fact as I look around me , due to the extent of misery and pain in evidence, it becomes increasingly apparent that most of erverybodt else is in Hell also. I would appreciate philosophical answers /religious only please or at least an attempt to grapple the notion

Why do people who have never questioned their own religion, let alone studied other religions, think that they are infallable and that I am an idiot when I have studied science and four major world religions in depth and settled upon atheism as the logical best choice?

I am an agnostic.
People from my everyday life, and people on here keep try one of three tactics. they tell me the good part of being religious and believing in god. they tell me i will burn in hell. or they try the first one and then if that doesnt work they tell me the second one.

I'm not saying believe what i believe or else your wrong.
I just want to know why you keep trying?
(and please dont tell me its to save my soul)

Parsecs is a system of measurement based on the rotation of the night sky through out the year. It determines the distance a star is from the earth. Considering these stars are billions of miles away, how could light possibly have traveled to us in 6 thousand years. Also, the bible says that the stars were created after the earth.

"Redshift" is a phenominon in which when the light spectrum of stars are measured, they tend to be on the red side of the color spectrum. This means that the stars are moving away from our galaxy, and in the big scheme of things, a common origin (a.k.a, the site of the big bang)

Just curious...
