It's not easy - but it would be critical to surround yourself with people who share your moral standards.

Hi,

I definately agree with the first answer. Surrounding yourself with like minded people helps a great deal and so does prayer. It is not easy to abide by your beliefs and principles in the world today.
I actually lost a job because I wouldn't "play ball" and go along with some very unethical behaviour. Even though it was very hard at the time, it also lead me to a better place and a better job! I now work for a Christian company and couldn't be happier.
Usually if you are pushed to the wall for your beliefs there is a reason. Maybe God has a different plan for you. But I'll tell you what I have learned, it is much easier to stick to your guns than to fold. It may not seem like it at the time but when you look back I think you will see that it was worth it. Remember that you are who has to answer to God for what you do. Pray and don't ever give up!! God Bless

It takes effort as anything of value does.

Also, you must make sure your convictions are worth maintaining. Backed by religious beliefs only will not work. Your religious beliefs must be based on the Bible or you will fail. Beliefs like trinity or evolution taught as doctrines are not from the Bible and you are already compromised.

You must know and personally understand in your own mind what you believe. A preacher in a pulpit once a week will not do it. Accepting someone elses word, no matter how much you trust them, doesn't work either.

This world is comprised of all kinds of people. Some maintain their religious beliefs and convictions and some do not.

When someone really understands just what it is that Christ did for them, they will maintain their convictions.

What a question, yes it is very hard, do you want to know how I do it. I go out to play soccer(my job), and I come back home. I don't deal with people and just hang out with people with the same convictions. For a while, I was quite comfortable alone when I didn't know any religious people.

If you are a Christian, then scripture tells us that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. So if one stays in the Bible, prays and has friends of like mind it certainly helps. As you get older, it gets a bit easier because you don't have all the social pressure on you to act in inappropriate ways. Also, when you have walked through life with God and seen first hand how He has worked in your life a trust develops in God.

Strength comes from within, not from without. So, in order to maintain you beliefs, you must put them at the core of your being, and not compromise on them. The choice, really, is yours.

For me it is not easy for me not to hold on to my convictions. For me my faith is my life, the way I live my life. I have a relationship with the Lord, I pray constantly, study His word and have a wonderful family and beautiful friends and we encourage each other. I rely on the Lord for my strength, for my direction and for my boldness to stand up for me and what I believe. My God is an Awesome God. :)

you have a good question here...
It is not easy sometimes when I am out of realm of Christian family and friends. Christians are humans.
We are preyed upon every second of the day by Satan, moreso than non believers because he already has them.. He works hard to get Christians to veer off Gods path but by being strong and telling Satan to 'get behind thee' he will have to do it... I, personally, am around Christians 95% of my daily living and it is comforting to me but when I am with non Christians, it is very uncomfortable for me.. God does lead me in the midst of non believers in order to witness and I do take persecution but I am a true follower of God, I stand tall and no one can bring me down... When I do go out I ask God to hide me behind the Cross and protect me, and HE DOES!
I live in this world, but I am not OF it... I do not partake in worldly things.

It's hard, the world we live in is all about tearing us down because of our beliefs, so the best advice is to not conform to the world.
