Hi,
Two books that will serve as an excellent introduction to Buddhist philosophy and meditation and mindfulness practice are The Heart of Buddha's Teaching and The Miracle of Mindfulness both by Thich Nhat Hanh.
For views on the After life I would recommend Life after Life by Raymond Moody. He is one of the pioneers of Modern Science taking an interest in what happens after death and describes the experiences of people who have had a Near Death Experience (NDE). You can also look at the Tibetan Book of the Dead which is an account of what happens after death as per the Tibetan Mystics. But it is a little heavy and hard to read.
regards
Nikhil Gangoli

I starred this hoping it would help more knowledgeable people find this, but I can tell you of a novel that *really* communicated Buddhist views of the afterlife: The Years of Rice and Salt, by Kim Stanley Robinson.
Just following the links here will give you some help!

You can search for Buddhism bookstore in your place - it is better than e-buy since you can read some of the simple and determine which one is fit for you. (Buddhism books can be holy books or guiding books - you need simple but good guiding books , which you can understand).
The view of after life is also one of the guiding book Whig you may find, this one you can buy online because it is basic concept. (google pictures)
