What are some of the first few fallacies children learn from their parents, church, others concerning a religious belief?

Bandwagon fallacy? Everyone else believes. Appeal to fear? Believe or suffer forever.

Are children taught to think fallaciously throughout the indoctrination period? Or do children learn to use specific fallacies when naturally questioning some of their beliefs?

Are the children taught to ignore irrationalities while learning religion? (As a child, I didn't spot that Adam/Eve were held responsible for doing wrong before they knew what wrong was. It's almost like punishing a person who is incompetent.)

(This may be a loaded question; ie, I assume children are taught to think fallaciously when they question things. However, it's possible they just never learned to think critically. They may even learn to think critically, but learn to avoid doing so in certain situations.)

Hint, In 1711 the book "Characteristics of Men, Manners, opinions, Times" by Anthony Cooper was published.

It certainly deflates a lot of the propaganda on this forum and many politicians.

How would you show Christ's love to such a hateful person?
What words of wisdom would help soften his hardened heart?
He is quoting scripture, that many of you agree with...how do you argue with that?

We teach that we are all brothers and sisters and children of God...because He created us. ... We teach that God created all things....then God created satan. does not that make him our brother, and Christ his brother, and God his father?

I am a non-practicing Catholic for almost 5yrs. now. This means that I attend a Christian/Baptist church.I know that christian practices are all bible based in which you should only believe in God as your Lord and savior. Now,
I have been interested in metaphysics by which almost all of its dynamics is the power of the mind and positive thinking. I have listened to a couple of audio cds from renowned hypnotherapist and pyschotherapist and their techniques are almost the same. One of which I always listen to even has a prayer that praises God and only God id the beginning and the end. I know for a fact that this is not pertaining to another dimensional being and after i listen to it I pray on my own--praise and worship, confession of my sins and thanking God after. I also listen to Joel Osteen's audio cds and there are similarities of which he mentioned about positive thinking and what you plant in your thoughts.for me it's plainly for guided visualization. Is this displeasing to God?

It seems that many are witnessing about Jesus...but, few are feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and giving to the poor....how can they hear about God, if they are hungry...

Does your church do the work of God by helping your local community? Do you put as much money into programs for the needy as you do into building big chapels, improving your sound systems, buying your pipe organs, etc...?

Serious question....my church gives a lot to the community...a lot...however, percentage wise, we spend more on the building, maintenance, salaries, foreign missions, etc...are we losing our priorities?

And clearly, God said, "for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” But for some strange reason, Adam and Eve both ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and both of them lived another 900 years.

Why did God lie to Adam and Eve? Clearly, in this story, the serpent was much more truthful than God.

The word of God says They confess to know me but in works they deny me . I know that it;s not by works we are saved . But we will be judged by our works . Faith without works is dead.

I know some of my questions have seemed silly, but the rumors are out there. Here's another one, perhaps not so silly, but still it would be nice if it were addressed.

LDS believe God had physical sex with Mary and she conceived Jesus.

Because he says our country has turned over to Satan because of our acceptance of homosexuality....so, he thinks picketing at funerals raises awarenes...he often picketed at the Southern Baptist Convention in recent years, because he thinks they have not taken a strong enough stance against gays...Southern Baptists!!! Can you believe that!!! He is crazy...anyway,

What kind of message does picketing these funerals really send?

Are fundamentalists upset with the message he is sending or his antics...eventhough he quotes the same scripture?

Does his actions make any fundamentalist feel at least a little ashamed of their harmful, hateful rhetoric?

As a gay man, I believe this may help more peopler with moderate views become more understanding of our plight...do you agree?
