Religion & Spirituality - 23 April 2007

My cousin in NJ named me godmother of her child which I accepted despite being complete unreligious. The baby's baptism is in a few weekends.

What happens at this ceremony and would I be expected to participate or do I just stand there? I don't have a problem with being a "back-up mother" but I don't want to deal with any of the religious aspects.

It's like an emotional or conceptual vertigo, I get, when I look at the stars at night and realize I'm whizzing through space, completely off the rails, and don't know where I'm going or what I'll hit. Anyone else get that?

i often here various theists refer to god as being perfect. but what exactly is perfect? you can't really say he's lived by the rules which he made. so it's faulty to say his actions are perfect. what exactly does it mean to say he's perfect?

voiced about their religion and it's bad historical past?....I received a "violation" for expressing my own personal experiences with the Mormon religion, which was TRUE, yet my answer was deleted because of what I said. Should "truth" be restrained by some who feel it is offensive?, and if so, how is anyone to change the fallacies wihin religions so everyone can benefit?

Wanting to run London Marathon in future but don't know whether it would be ok, I would need to wear head scarf and cover up, and don't know if would be suitable for muslim women to compete. For a good cause though? Plus scared head scarf would come off and sweat alot. Advice please

Sorry for being new, but I guess we all were once. Like i said i meant no disrespect but i guess others do. Christians are not intimidated by your presence here. I don't get offended by your replies humor is a gift from God.Do you seriously think none of us has been where you are? some of us were and didn't even know it. When the time comes we all die for thats inevitable, we all will see what was true and what wasn't. The difference is we will have lost nothing if we were wrong can you say the same. If you were right you can say "i told you so." and we can all have a good laugh. But... what if we are right... fine for us but what about you? None of us will be laughing and none of us will be saying" i told you so." What is really keeping you from God? Surely not God His arms are open and waiting for you to give Him permission. God doesn't do B&E's.
