Where did Cain get his wife if there was just one family?

Gen. 3:20: “Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she had to become the mother of everyone living.” (So all humans were to be the offspring of Adam and Eve.)

Gen. 5:3, 4: “Adam lived on for a hundred and thirty years. Then he became father to a son in his likeness, in his image, and called his name Seth. And the days of Adam after his fathering Seth came to be eight hundred years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters.” (One of Adam’s sons was Cain, and one of Adam’s daughters must have become Cain’s wife. At that time in human history when humans still had outstanding physical health and vitality, as indicated by the length of their lives, the likelihood of passing on defects as a result of marrying a close relative was not great. After some 2,500 years of human history, however, when mankind’s physical condition had greatly deteriorated, Jehovah gave to Israel laws forbidding incest.)

Gen. 4:16, 17: “Cain went away from the face of Jehovah and took up residence in the land of Fugitiveness [or, Nod] to the east of Eden. Afterward Cain had intercourse with his wife [“knew his wife,” that is, intimately so, KJ, RS; “lay with his wife,” NE] and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch.” (Notice that Cain did not first meet his wife in the land to which he fled, as if she were from another family. Rather, it was there that he had sexual relations with her to produce a son.)

Adam and Eve lived many years and had LOTS of kids. The bible doesn't say how old Cain was when he Knew his wife, nor when he killed his brother.

Cain may have already been married when he slew his brother. And he might have married a sister, a niece, a grand niece..... He wasn't necessarily the first of Adam's sons to marry.

there were only two people on earth ...Adam and Eve....Adam was formed from the dust...Eve was formed from Adams rib and the dust of the ground. They gave birth to sons and daughters. These children intermingled and married because God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply. They lived almost 1000 years. They could have had 1 or more children per year. Then in 15 years their children could start having 1 or more children per year for their lifetime of almost 1000 years. and when those thousands of grandchildren and children had children the earth would have a good start at being filled.

Hebrew culture was based off of the man, who the man passed on as his son. So when it talks about geneology, it will always mention that the man "begat" the son, it hardly ever mentions daughters, it's just part of the custom of the time. Cain's wife isn't mentioned, and neither are any of Adam and Eve's daughters, but it's fairly evident that one of them is Cain's wife, since incest wasn't a sin before Moses and the Law.

If you actually READ Genisis, you will discover that "man" was created twice. Once as a general creation, then again; molded from the clay and given the "Breath of Life" from God.

I submit that Cain got his wife from the groups of human beings that were not gifted with the "Breath of Life;" in other words, they were not created by the Jewish sky god.

There are some groups who suggest his wife may have been Lilith, the first woman according to the Midrashim.

This belief derives from the fact that there are two different creations of women in Genesis -- in the first, woman is created at the same time as Adam, and as his equal, in the second, woman is created after Adam and as his subordinate. Since the first wife was created as Adam's equal, she refused to lay subordinate to him and was thus cast out to Nod (which means the exiled lands). When she was cast out, she transubstantiated into a demoness.

According to the midrashim, this is the original reason for the prohibition of masterbation, NOT the story of Onan. Onan's sin was inhospitality and violation of cultural law, not the spilling. It was said that Lilith would collect the spilled seed to birth demons.

And, as mentioned above, there are also those who suggest it is she that Cain married.

MANKIND ADHAM

Most have read when Cain talked with Abel and in the field killed him.
Gen.4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
God then cursed and drove Cain out, and Cain said.
Gen.4:14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
WHO IS CAIN WORRIED ABOUT?
Gen.4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
WHERE DID CAIN FIND A WIFE?
The answer is in the Hebrew text of (Gen.1:26 and Gen.2:7).

Gen.1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
The word “man” (Gen.1:26) in the Hebrew text looks like this ( אדם ), with no article means “MANKIND”, transliterated is (adam).

Gen.2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Most likely it was his sister, yet you and all must remember that the law of not seeing your sister's nakedness didn't come until God told Moses that commandment, many generations later. So without a law, you have no sin. Make sense? Peace.

I'm searching thru the bible and history books but found nothing yet. It doesn't seem to have importance for salvation though.
