I was told that Jesus' death happened because He wanted to clean all human sins... but how is one thing connected to the other??

He did an useful thing by teaching people, but how could he do anything good by dying? I only see one useful thing : he died as a martyr and so his doctrine had a stronger echo and he even gave people a symbol (the cross).

if it says in the bible that after you die you are only sleeping then why do people think that when you die you go to heaven because these texts say that the dead are sleeping:

Eccl. 9:5- For the living know that they sall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

Matt. 9:24- He said unto them, Give placer: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth...

John 11:11- These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth: but I go that may awake him out of sleep.

It should be dark skin to light skin end of story and by what country they from. It is disrespectful when people go by the color of your skin rather than where you from. How many people agree that the black and white name was created to separate the human race?

Jesus was modeled after the pre-Christian God Mithras who at the time was called the Son of God and he was born on December 25, died, was buried, then was ressurected in 3 days. All of the "sacred rituals" of Christianity, and all of Christianity's core beliefs (virgin birth, resurrection, etc.) come straight from pagan religions that were popular around the time of Jesus. No scholar has presented any proof Jesus existed besides the Bible (which is mainly based on Paganism) and several documents that nobody can prove were factual. Ask yourself also, why doesn't God answer your prayers? It's because there is no God.

I have seen that many non believers, or even people that do believe in God and church, think that Christians only want money. Do they not realize what this money goes to? It is not for making the pastor rich, or being on television, or building a bigger church. It is for helping people.

God tells us in the Bible that we must give tithe and offerings. Not only does this help to keep the church open, but it helps those in need. My Grandmother is an active member in her church. She is going through some really rough financial problems right now. The church she attends has told her to never put gas in her car again, because they will do it for her. They also supply her with money to help on her bills and living expenses. Without the people giving to the church, they would not be able to help her. This is done for many people that come through and need money for ligit things.

Why do people not understand this?

The pastor at my church preached about the V Tech. massacre this morning.

The message was this: How could a loving god allow this to happen?

Do you trust God?

It is hard for Christians to understand, let alone those who don't believe in God.

It is about trust.

Everybody must die once.

It would be worse to die without knowing God, than to die even at the hands of a mentally disturbed individual.

The bible says: "And do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28)

What do you think about this?

The typical gospel presentation goes something like this:

There is nothing you can do to warrant eternal salvation. Everyone has sinned and deserves to be eternally seperated from God in hell. Therefore, if God judges you by his holy law, you will be found guilty. This is the bad news. However, the good news is that Jesus came into the world and lived a life without sin. He then died on the cross to pay the penalty for the sins of all who would put their faith on him. Therefore, turn from your sins and believe on Jesus Christ.

Notice that this says nothing about the resurrection. However, Paul's explanation of the gospel includes Christ's resurrection (1 Cor 15:1-4). What gives?

I've been down so long,
I've been hurt for so long,
There were times I thought I would never so the break of day.
It was hard for me,to see your plan for me
And I tried to believe surely it won't last always
But night after night, (Night after night, Night after night)
I pray Lord don't take your joy from me
Then late one night I read in your love letter that it's gunna get betta

[Chorus:]
Don't chea know that
I've been looking for you
I realized that nothing else will satisfy me
I'm so glad I found you
Now that I'm changed no one can keep me away from you

[Verse 2:]
And my enimies, tried to come for me
And they thought that my world was comin to an end
All the while you knew
That I would make it throgh
I seem closer than I was when I first began
Jesus you are, (Jesus you are, Jesus you are)
You are my sun right after the rain
Wherever you are
I just wanna be near you
I'm so glad I can hear you

[Chorus 2x]

Ohoh Ohohoh
Ohoh Ohohoh
Ohoh Ohohoh
Ohoh Ohohoh

Jesus you are, (Jesus you are, Jesus you are)
You are my sun right after the rain
Wherever you are
I just wanna be near you
I so glad I found you
[Chorus 2x]

Ohoh Ohohoh (ohoho)
Ohoh Ohohoh (ohoho)
Ohoh Ohohoh (ohoho)
Ohoh Ohohoh (ohoho)

There was a pastor that came to our church and he told us to beware of any Pastor that only preached about wealth, prosperity, and "good times" from God. I was just wondering if he is in the right? What is so bad about speaking on good times from God?

Fred Phelps is a fundie who says he will picket the funerals of the Virginia Tech shooting victims, to make his point - expressing his displeasure over what he sees wrong with America. What do other fundamentalists think of his behavior?

I have known fundies who are polite compassionate people. There must be many fundies in America who do not approve the cruelty of the Fred Phelps people. Why aren't they speaking out?

Isn't Fred Phelps bringing serious discredit on the rest of America's fundamentalists? I don't know how they might restrain him, but if his fellow-fundies cannot bring him under control, who will?

There are people like Pat Robertson who claim to speak for the fundamentalist fringe - if not for the Almighty himself. What have any of them said publicly to distance themselves from these fanatics who claim they speak for God and act out their fantasies by waving offensive placards in the faces of grieving people at funerals?

I ran to the store for smokes and the song came on while I was stuck in line--heard it a thousand times before and never thought about it, but doesn't it sound like Mom snapped and killed Dad? Why wouldn't he be in a cemetary with a proper headstone?

Sister cries out from her baby bed
Brother runs in feathers on his head
Momma's in her room learning how to sew
Daddy's drinking beer, listening to the radio
Hank Williams sings "Kaw Liga" and "Dear John"
And time marches on, time marches on
Sister's using rouge and clear complexion soap
Brother's wearing beads and he smokes alot of dope
Momma is depressed, barely makes a sound
Daddy's got a girlfriend in another town
Bob Dylan sings "Like a Rolling Stone"
And time marches on, time marches on

I do not understand....

2007-04-22 05:29:30 · 12 answers · asked by Herbert H 1

I read many answers here where people actually take the position that they know what god thinks and wants of everyone.

Wow. You actually think you possess that knowledge? You actually know what god wants of everyone and what god thinks?

What kind of an ego does this require? A hugely overinflated one? I mean WOW! What kind of CHAIR do you sit in??

What's REALLY unusual, even funny at times, is people making that SAME CLAIM (I know god, I know what god wants of people, and I know god's thoughts...) -- they disagree with each other. They read the SAME BOOK that they claim gives them this "'insight" -- but they have such different interpretations of it, they all disagree with each other. LOL!

Meanwhile, judging everyone around them!

Are people really this incredibly self-centered and self-important??
