I do not understand....

I went to a church like that with my friend for Easter and had to leave. It did not feel like a church service, it felt as though I was at Karaoke or at the fairgrounds. It made me incredibly sad and I did not feel the presence of the Holy Spirit and I could barely understand any of the words. It brought me no peace, joy or love...just depression and tension. It was to entice the world which is the wrong direction because the music and singing is suppose to be for the Lord and to praise Him. Sorry, it was not for me but if others can get a blessing from it then I guess it is good. I am not sitting in judgment of those that choose to enjoy it...it wasn't for me. Mmm

The one church I actually enjoyed attending was in Joplin MO. I had to go, I was spending the summer when I was 14 (1986) with some religious folk, and they wouldn't let me stay home. It was a Baptist Church, converted from an old movie theater. They had a kick a$s gospel band - about 20 pieces, with a full chorus. It was a predominately black church, so there was lots of singing, dancing in the aisles.... It was really great to watch these folks just loving the Lord and being joyful. Every other church I ever attended kinda sucked after that. It was all doom and gloom - I hated every other church. 'Course, then I gave it up altogether, but if I were to convert, I think I'd be a Baptist. They looked like they were having fun.

Why would any sane person try to carry a pipe organ around with their band? Them things can weigh a ton.

Because this "insane" Christian loves the praise and worship music created by a keyboard, drums, guitars and the voices of a full congregation worshiping God through music. A pipe organ is a wonderful, incredible piece of musical equipment. And it has it's place too.

It is a matter of choice. What is your preference and why?

Blessings to you!

It's awesome

I once read that the definition of sanity is "the socially acceptible form of madness".

In the bible there is no pipe organ, but a group of musicians and singers.

What did David do when the ark returned to Israel. Read the Bible do not worry about how other people praise and worship. Follow the directions of the Holy Spirit. God Bless
Ps. I love praise and worship it is great and nothing wrong with it, try it.

"Why would any sane person want to go to a church...?"

That's the only part of the question you really need.
