The pastor at my church preached about the V Tech. massacre this morning.

The message was this: How could a loving god allow this to happen?

Do you trust God?

It is hard for Christians to understand, let alone those who don't believe in God.

It is about trust.

Everybody must die once.

It would be worse to die without knowing God, than to die even at the hands of a mentally disturbed individual.

The bible says: "And do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28)

What do you think about this?

He’s got the whole world in his hands.
He’s got the whole wide world in his hands.
He’s got the whole world in his hands.
He’s got the whole world in his hands.

He’s got the wind and rain in his hands,
He’s got the sun and moon in his hands,
He’s got the wind and rain in his hands,
He’s got the whole world in his hands.

He’s got you and me, brother, in his hands.
He’s got you and me, sister, in his hands.
He’s got you and me, brother, in his hands.
He’s got the whole world in his hands.

He’s got everybody here in his hands,
He’s got everybody here in his hands,
He’s got everybody here in his hands,
He’s go the whole world in his hands.

How many VT students did God kill? None.

Now to your quote: Matt 10:24"A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. 25It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub,[c] how much more the members of his household!

26"So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. 27What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. 28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny[d]? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. 30And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows

Please look at Math 10:25 that "those" in Matt 10:28. You did not rightly divide this verse. Moreover, it has nothing to do with the VT killings.

As a Christian, my focus is not on this world but the next. It should not be a surprise that often in the world of men innocents are killed.

God, not man, judges. So in this case, I leave it to God.

This turns out to me like a type of matters a few theists inform themselves so that they consider that matters in lifestyles are much less random than they're. God does have a plan for us and right here it's: for us to make use of the brains and hearts and skills He gave us the first-class we will. That's all. No scheduled deaths, no preordained injuries, no pre-deliberate whatever. That's unfastened will. Some theists quite hate the inspiration that we've got unfastened will and that God leaves our lifestyles selections as much as us. It's like they do not wish accountability for developing their possess lifestyles selections. But God leaves that as much as us. Of path He is helping us after we ask, however the offerings and penalties are ours. If you freely decide on to not put on a helmet using your motorbike out at the freeway, and a further motive force hits you, then that is while God is aware of you're going to die. It was once no longer deliberate and in case you had freely selected to put on a helmet you then might probably reside a further day. When God gave us unfastened will, He ameliorated His possess omniscience in deference to us. We now make selections and God does not intervene on them (until we ask Him). As such, there is not any "long run" that God can see into due to the fact our long run movements do not exist till we freely decide on them. It's all our freely made offerings affecting the offerings of the persons round us and their offerings affecting us.

After 911 here in NYC, there was a lot of fear going around...looking up everytime a low plane flew overhead and such. Then I was reminded by the title of In Touch magazine from Charles Stanley. The title was "God Is In Control." Just the title reminded me of that truth, and I was sufficiently strenghtened to cope with the days ahead...missing loved ones, funerals, and such.

The senseless violence in VTech is trivial compared to the violence in Iraq or Darfur.

No thinking, personified God would let these things happen; the incredible senseless violence of our world is one reason I don't think this type of God exists. (the type that would burn a bush, change water to wine, or part a sea).

Maybe if people quit praying to God for help, and started to help themselves and others, these things would cease to happen.

We are in control of our individual selves....

"God" hopes we do the right thing ... or rather life hopes we do the right thing...we all hope eachother does the right thing....
But we are in control of our destinys..

Even though I dont believe in a "hell"... I would hope that muderer went there....

What do you mean still...? LOL

Get a grip on reality. A non-being, made-up sky-wizard isn't in control of anything and never was.

Your pastor is either nuts or he's a con artist... Matthew was no better... and you're right there on the edge if you're considering believing either of them.

I don't think they had to die. They were victims of a brooding psycho.

I'd like to see a gene mutation that causes people like that to only self destruct, not be able to take down others in their desire to die.

so - are we saying that we get two threats in one killing?
first comes the actual act - then comes the fear I am supposed to have if I don't believe in him?

so god is threatening me in other words ?? NICE , THAT'S JUST REAL NICE!
