It's crowded in worship today
As she slips in trying to fade into the faces
The girls teasing laughter is carrying farther than they know
Farther than they know

Chorus:
But if we are the body
Why aren't His arms reaching?
Why aren't His hands healing?
Why aren't His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren't His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
There is a way

A traveler is far away from home
He sheds his coat and quietly sinks into the back row
The weight of their judgmental glances
Tells him that his chances are better out on the road

Jesus paid much too high a price
For us to pick and choose who should come
And we are the body of Christ

Jesus is the way

I had this friend once who went to church camp and returned with 3 bracelets on her arm. She said they were for *insert 3 tiny, unheard of countries here* because they don't have any translation of the Bible in their language and the bracelets were a reminder to pray for them since they're all going to Hell. Needless to say, her church was heavily into mission work.

My stepdad is involved in some crazy church (they believe in "healing" and my mother now believes she's cured of asthma) and he's about to embark on a mission trip to Africa.
Although I'm biased because I'm a godless Atheist...to me this just seems like a huge waste of resources. Think of how much money the church had to raise to send how ever many people over there to Africa and for what? Personally, I think it would be so much better to try and help people in your own community - the money will go a lot further and there is a continued support system, not just a one time "bribe" of gifts. Your thoughts please.

I consider myself christian. I am not lumping all christians together in saying that pagan beliefs have entered into Christianity. It is a simple question... Do you believe paganism has entered into Christianity? And is there a difference between Christianity that has allowed this to occur and Christianity that has stayed true to Christs teaching? Even Moses and the prophets of old believed in a savior, ie Christ.
In study of the bible I have found that pagan rituals have been mixed into Christianity.
I refuse to believe that simply listening to someone speak from a stage is going to get me to the truth of the bible. The way I look at it is "if it can't be backed up in the bible, it's not true". That doesn't mean I won't listen to what is said but I will not turn my life over to man, who is largely blind to bible truth, without considering what the scriptures say on any given matter.

I have been becoming more in tune with the universe and am understanding the laws of the universe better all the time. i seem to have a really awesome connection with the positive force and am become more and more insightful everyday. Wonderful things are happening to me and I am becoming more and more spiritualy elevated. What's this? I am not complaining just curious and experiencing the human need to name and categorize every experience.

...(I pointed out that my family does a big Easter thing and he mentioned Good Friday). I realized I really didn't want him to think that. I actually feel like people should think less of me if I were religious.

Other atheists (and this applies to some other spiritual groups, too) do you feel that way about people thinking you are religious (especially how people in the US assume you are Christian)?

Atheists, my opinion do not go agains any aspect of modern science. Big bang, evolution, cellular biology, quarks, geometry (allright, I kinda hate math, but still I buy it). Scientificly there is no reason for me (or anyone) not to believe in any of it.
I was just wandering how can anyone witness all these wonderful discoveries about Life and the Universe and NOT see God.
the last sentence came out too religious? Let me refrase : "Given the scientific discoveries, the precise elegance of fisics and biology and how everything fits exactly to permit life on Earth what is more logical: 1)There is a God or 2)Bah, it's trillions and trillions of coincidences that just keep happening and make a cell division in my stomach's epithelium seem like an easy simple process, even though it is actually harder than anyone will ever comprehend even if they study it throughout their lives.

I'm sorry if it all came out confusing, I'm also sorry about my english. Don't feel insulted, please.

My husband had cheated on me with other women even before our cohabitation but I chose to forgive him then. We have been married for about 6 years when he forced me to leave our home when I initiated separation with him for he has been abusive and having an affair with a married woman who worked for my husband's company even when we're cohabitating. The woman divorced with her husband a couple of years ago and has been giving my husband a lot of pressure to leave me. The woman is so shameful to sleep with my husband when I was away from home. She is a Christian and goes to church every week. My husband had plotted the separation, made excuses that I had caused the marriage breakdown and ruined his health and work as well as planning asset transfer to avoid his financial support to me since I am with chronic illness. I am so deeply hurt by his false allegations on me and his pretending to be good guy infront of others whom I have no chance to explain. I have been suicidal

I was just reading a hypothetical question, directed at Christians. They were asked something like "Two people are dying, a Christian and an atheist, but you can only save one, who do you choose?"

A lot of answers said something like: "I'd save the atheist, because the Christian will go to heaven anyway".

Assuming that there is no God or heaven, it is obviously much safer to be an atheist, right?
