...(I pointed out that my family does a big Easter thing and he mentioned Good Friday). I realized I really didn't want him to think that. I actually feel like people should think less of me if I were religious.

Other atheists (and this applies to some other spiritual groups, too) do you feel that way about people thinking you are religious (especially how people in the US assume you are Christian)?

Well, tomorrow is as Good of a Friday to have off as any! I'm taking tomorrow off, but for no specific reason. I get paid days off once in awhile and they're fun to use up. More power to you!

Sounds more like YOU think less of religious people, and assume others feel the same way. I don't think that's generally the case. Unless other people where you work are a combination of being both stuck-up and athiests, it shouldn't be an issue.

As an atheist, I don't know nor care what people assume about my religion or lack of, until the subject comes up. If it does come up I have no issue with talking about it, but it's a subject (along with politics) most people seem to avoid in the workplace.

Let me say something humorous.
You may have to answer questions in favor of religion on Friday. Since you are feeling guilty. Have a happy holiday.
I don't mind being associated with religion.

I don't like it when people assume I'm Christian. But, I grew up in a Jewish neighborhood, so most Christians assume I'm Jewish.

I don't seem to be as bothered by that,

I let people assume I'm Christian because if they find out I'm not they get all insulted, as if I've led them on, and try to convert me. It's just annoying, so I don't bother to correct their assumptions.

A day off is a day off. Next time tell him someone in your family is Jewish, you may get a few of those days off

No. I clearly tell them it's because I'm going to get pissed out of my skull and spend the next morning vomiting up my stomach lining.
