Is there a name for a group of people who believe every word of the Bible to be the literal truth? (women can't speak in church, disobedient children should be stoned)

If Atheists have "faith in logic" then, what are your beliefs when logic and science can't give an explaination?

I cannot explain this question as well I would I like to but I remember there being something about two or three Popes in the Roman Catholic Church having special titles added to their names such as "His Most Holy" or something like that. Perhaps it had something to do with the number of Popes that had been named Saints? If anyone has perhaps any idea of what I am referring to I would appreciate it if you could add some more details for me.

Thanks

The dude who posted the question about proof of Jesus' existance. All I said was that his "proof" was debated. He called me unhappykid, and asked why I believed the debaters. He's the one believing the debators- the ones on the side of Christianity. I keep an open mind about it. I never said I believed one side or the other.

Does anyone else think I must be unhappy because I don't have the same religion as you?

Why do jehovah's witnesses teach that men are above women? Why does the religion claim unconditional love, when if you sin you are ex-communicated? How does that signify unconditional love?

For Example:
Josephus, in the book Jewish Antiquities" wrote:

"At that time lived Jesus, a wise man, if he may be called a man; for he performed many wonderful works. He was a teacher of such men as received the truth with pleasure. . . .And when Pilate, at the instigation of the chief men among us, had condemned him to the cross, they who before had conceived an affection for him did not cease to adhere to him. For on the third day he appeared to them alive again, the divine prophets having foretold these and many other wonderful things concerning him. And the sect of the Christians, so called from him, subsists at this time" (Antiquities, Book 18, Chapter 3, Section 1).

There are many others. Can you name some of them?

My 3 year old has super temper tantrums sometimes and had one during Pres. Hinkley's talk during conference yesterday. I took her out of the chapel, and went to the nearest room I could find and hollered at her (nothing bad). I had HAD IT with her attitude and I let my anger get the better of me. When I left the room I realized that the congregation could hear EVERY WORD that I said. I'm mortified, embarrassed and feel so terrible. What can I do to let people know I'm ashamed of my anger and feel terrible? I know I ruined the spirit of the meeting.

Please list your religious persuasion, then answer these questions:

1. Is it okay to kill people if they DO NOT intend to kill you or someone else?

2. Is it okay to torture people if it has nothing to do with anything else (like where the bomb is)?

3. Do you respect, sanction, worship, or tithe to anyone who performs the actions in 1 & 2?

Okay! Let's see how y'all do...

I just read a JW "only" question...and simply wanted to ask...

If only 144,000 get to go to heaven, why go door to door? Between all (JW's) that have died since your religion began and the ones currently involved...aren't there 144,000?

Why are you so willing to give up your slot in heaven? I'm just interested in your thoughts on this...

And once a JW dies, are they guaranteed a place in heaven or if someone (another JW) does more and works harder, can you be removed from heaven to provide room?

Please be respectful, as I mean no disrespect.

I do believe you reap what you sow...and my boyfriend may have to do some time, but maybe not. He got in some trouble, before that God has been just blessing him getting him a good job, getting him a car, a place to stay all in 6 months. And now it may all get taken from him if he does some time. This job was a blessing, this man hired him and no one else would because of his background. I have been his backbone from day one through all this, so that won't change.

I just pray that the judge is reasonable, this job means so much to him. We both are praying everyday.

Please pray for him
